you did the right thing bro, he can't prolly sustain much physical punishment if he's as bad off as you say, he's just lucky that you used the newspaper. Well is he happy in the rest of his life? Maybe this is an outburst rooted from other problems besetting him. Not to be Dr Phil on your ass, but people don't just become angry at people for fun. Usually they're stressed out and unhappy and seeking an outlet for that anger. Women are notorious for this tactic.
