Oh not done bulking per se... just done with the 3 month goal of clean bulking ;) I'm ending it the day before X-mas taking a week off of diet and training the last week of the year. Then come Jan 1st more then likely will start another 4 week strength cycle. Depends... I have a few things I'm thinking about, also going to have to start going to physical therapy for my back. I'm more interested in finding out how they go about treating conditions then I am with actually going through the motions. I have a good idea what is going on. I think because of the curve in my spine my right leg ends up being a tad shorter which puts a lot of strain in my right lower back and hip region. SO.... I'm doing my own testing on the issue to see if I can adjust things. Because of the curve when I sit I think more pressure is on my left cheek vs. the right one. So the left side of the body is contracted most of the day, and the right is overly stretched. I was actually thinking about Shadow's issue with the rhomboids and pecs. He feels it in the rhomboids the weaker more stretched muscle, vs the overly contracted pecs. Well I'm feeling it in my right low back (RT Quadratus lumborum then is overly stretched, and LT one is overly contracted). So manual manipulation would be to somehow raise the rt hip so it regains normal tonus and is even with the left, in which case I'm trying a 'butt lift' :lmao: on the right cheek. This also will put more of a stretch then in the left side since it is overly tight. If I look at my first pictures my left shoulder is higher then my right. According to my research the low shoulder will also be on the side of the shorter leg. Bingo exactly the same in my case. So :nerd: we'll see how this works.. I know another step would be to get a lift in the shoe, but not messing with everything at once. More info then you asked but I did need to doc that in my log ;) So far I'm just achey. Whenever you go about messing with choronic adaptations in the body it will cause some tolerable (hopefully) pain.

Feb will be 4 week hypertrophy, March 4 week last cycle of strength, then I'll start cutting in April and switching between hypertrophy cycles.

Rough plan anyway....

LMAO.. ok I can see my left shoulder higher than my right when it 'feels' even... my right leg was usually a hair shorter than the left before I started seeing a chiro. He gets em pretty darn close but not perfect since I had reconstruction on my right ankle when I was like 11 (This was probaly a Type V where the bone is crushed and compression of growth 'bone' [I think it's referenced these days as growth plate]. I am opposite of you ... I think I contract my right side all day & that will cause for all these issues. OH also the cancer damaged my RIGHT kidney, so the right side likes to take over for some things, protect itself for others, ao really in the oddest things the imbalances are quite humorous. My imbalance is ironically not in my legs, but in my hips. I thought the bone growth would be stunted but to my surprise it wasn't (until I get another measuring xray, this is what the eyes can see & hands can see during the muscle assessment testing etc.).

I so feel what you're saying lol.

:lmao: Well I'm glad I'm not the only deformed person!!!
Mine is in the hip and leg.. since the slight spinal curve gives me a slight lateral pelvic tilt.
Hmm if your right leg was a hair shorter and your left shoulder is high then that's the same as me. Now I'm rethinking stuff in my head. This book By Dr. Travell says that if the shoulder is low and leg is shorter that that side of the body is the one that needs the lift to bring the pelvis back up with the longer leg side, and in doing so will bring the shoulder up to even with the higher side. I am also very right dominant. From everything I know you will always feel pain in the weaker link. The weaker link usually develops the trigger points and that's why pain is felt. What type of pelvic tilt do you have? If it's like mine and what I'm thinking your left side will be high. If your left side is high then the Quadratus Lumborum muscle which connects the lumbar vertabrae, the pelvis, and the twelth rib will be shorter and contracted. Reason being is because the 12th rib will be closer to the pelvis. Then the distance between the 12th rib and pelvic crest on the right will be greater causing an eccentric QL on the right low hip side. Dangit I need my books.. and I'm at work!!! :evil: Let me know what Katie says!
All this could be negated if you have a rear pelvic tilt and a torque in the pelvis which is the only other way I could see unilateral low back pain.
I want to see!

^^ I agree with the bolded part. These issues sometimes shift from right to left without reason. Esp in my upper back/neck. My right side was wicked tight, got a mini massage & adjustment (chiro)... 1st deep tissue K tried to work that out.. the next deep tissue if shifted to the left side (upper body) she was kind of surprised to say the least. BOTH TIMES she spent time on my lower left part of my back (what ligament is right there???) very tender what even she was doing but I left her beat me up. THIS TIME it's lower right side, not PAIN but tightness and you can just feel when something is off, this is one of those times. Confirm rear pelvic tilt is similar to that of the lower spine re: lordosis

I've seen it switch sides like that. Could be you found a new compensation pattern because the one side was hurting. So because of new muscles used to brace the back/neck they became overly tight which then would allow the others to relax. Some of the neck issues could be sitting in front of the comp all day.. Have you had your computer chair, etc ergonomically corrected for you, and if you wear glasses they are the right strength? Or the way you sleep.
Believe me I know the off feeling!!!
I think u mean sacroilliac ligaments. Ohh and rear pelvic tilt is same as exaggerated lumbar curve (lordosis)

Im thinking more iliolumbar ligament.. ya?

Neck issues, I am very hypertensive, I hunch my shoulders all the time, constantly trying to sit straight & correct myself. As long as it's not forced, I can tilt head side to side and snap crackle pop it goes. YES sitting all day needs to go, I really cannot take it, no matter how many times I get up, move around, stretch etc. I outlawed nightly PC use like I use to, unless I get another laptop and them I can use it on the couch :evil:.

I sleep on my back, that's pretty easy for me, & pillows feather based or similar (softer & not thick & plump) so I don't get too much tweakage. I couldn't sleep with a towel if I tried :) Maybe b/c my glutes are so big that helps protect my lower back lol. j/k I def think it's an issue that needs to be worked out with massages & chiro work and neuromuscular conditioning. I admittedly do NOT do enough of that, which is why I implemented to the yoga & pilates. Now I just need to seriously do it 3-4 x a week :)

If anything my lower back may have a slight rev tilt but not the typical swayback you see with that type of lower pelvis. My old training partner had one helluva booty and pronounced sway back, from heavy squating & Im guessing not to clean form.

It's odd the things we have in common haha

Mood = Great ;)
Soreness = Rt vastus lateralis mixed with TFL I think it's from lateral step ups.
Weight = 160

Food = Yummy pineapple,mango, cranberry chicken

Weights and cardio will not be happening today, 'cuz it's my day off

Fly out this evening, and hopefully, I'll get more then my measley 2 hours of studying in I have done all week.
Jens I'm taking the NSCA cert test on saturday. I didn't really post it in bold as if I fail I don't want 2 look like an idiot, :lmao:

Anyway... I'll be back on monday.

So hopefully everyone has a great weekend!!!

We kinda feed off each other on idea's. Try and top each other on what we think up. So it's fun! It will be added to the recipe book.

I'm here Roons, just been busy at work, and a bit pissy with some people on here and in real life, and things I learned after this past weekend. Just needed some time to cool off a bit. Didn't want to turn my log into one of those bitch threads.

Test went better then the last one. Less memorized math equation questions.
Thanks to those who asked and gave me good lucks.

Yeah they were tight on my legs I could see the pockets through the material and I thought ahh no biggie. Pulled barely over butt as I sucked and squeezed it in, and buttoned. Bent over to grab my shoes.. and rip.
If I gain fat it's in my arms and abs.. so tells me muscle increase.. plus I am again in hypertrophy. I am doing measures and all this weekend again so I will rate the progress.

There I fixed it I can spell.... Better?!?!

DEC 08 2006
MOOD = Awesome It's friday come on
Soreness = Back as usual... This doesn't count though
Weight = 159.4

Food = Clean

Weights = tonight legs... QUADZ and CALVES oh my they are dead

Notes =
So with the new turned over leaf... My show day from July and August got pushed up a tad to May with Bunny. Depending how everything goes.. I may do the July or August one as well.

With all of that... Again like last year progress towards the goal all will be posted.
Geeshhhh hopefully I can manage better at work this time around.
Details of when I will begin my cut are being formulated :heart: S

Depending on that, I think I am running one more altered strength round in Jan for 4 weeks, and then it's hypertrophy till the day of the show.

I'll post up weights and all starting in JAN.... and yikes maybe some picture progress as I lean out again...

Clean bulk is being run till X-mas, and then afterwards will be picked back up.

Any suggestions about anything I could work on or change from last years' show to those that went?!?!?

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I wish you the best...because YOU deserve it!!!I am loooking foward to all your posts...(as usual) :heart:

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

You looked FAB, girl! I would just say focus on posing, smiling and showing a ton of confidence on stage this time around. It'll be a lot easier hopefully since you've already been there, done that once.

Looking forward to your comp prep and keeping my fingers crossed I'll get to see you on stage again.

:heart:

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

DEC 11 2006

Mood = Great
Soreness = CALVES, SHOULDERS, CHEST, QUADS, Upper back
Weight = 160

Food = In the switcharoo right now because BF went up a some since NOV 15th.

Today's GOAL = 2 Gallons of water

Notes=
This past weekend I did my measurements. I haven't had the chance to actually sit down and note differences on tape. SBT did the calc to see my BF did go up a percent. Looked at picture progress and I do see some noteable changes since 4 weeks ago as far as yes both where the fat increase went (ABS as usual), and where I have put on more muscles = QUADS ;) At the same point I think I am holding water like the Hoover Dam, and SBT said my pinches felt pretty watery... So I'm assuming that is the case and probably affected the BF. Plus slap me but my water has been low the past 3 days. So today back onto the 6-8 qt's.
I have a prescription from the doc for a diuretic that I'm picking up tonight. I think I only used 2 pills out of the last bottle. I'm not a pill junkie when it comes to that sort of stuff. Supps on the otherhand.. lol Also there is a new supplement from Whole Foods I'm going to try per something SBT heard about water retention. I don't know the name right now.
Debating on some stuff this week will determine what I am doing as far as a program up till competition. Either way like last competition everything will be posted up. INCLUDING my fatty pictures. Just not ready to do that as of yet. :evil: Just call me Moose! HA HA

Yes ma 'am still bulking my way along here.. I have another 4 weeks of a Bulk. Dropping calories slightly and migrating macro range.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I am curious to know what "bulking" means here. Too many times people think that it means just gaining weight for scales sake when it just turns out to be too much fat. Guys generally should still be able to see their abs in the offseason and I would still keep a similar rule for women.

LMAO Well unfortunatley my abs were gone in August-September when I took a month off and traveled in Europe and gained a bunch of fat and ate way to much yummy food :evil:
I hate the word bulking I think it sounds ridiculous but it's a word people identify with. Basically another way of saying adding on muscle, limiting fat accumulation.
See After my show I went to Europe. Yep gained a bunch of fat. So it was either A cut again, or B add on more muscle. So because I obviously need to add on more muscle I opted for B. In the mean time I played with cals a bit and did drop a tad of BF. Unfortunatley I have to suck up the damage that has been done and pursue LBM. I have in the past added LBM while cutting. So I know it's possible, but I wanted to add on as much LBM as possible because another cut cycle would leave me probably as bones with itty bitty muscles.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Gotcha. Thanks!

So how do you mix your macros? Standard rule is keeping protein with fats for a meal or protein with carbs. After 5-6 pm keeping carbs totally gone.

What is your protein, carb, fat intake like now? I personally eat cheese burgers when at all possible.

Protein:
whey isolate first meal of the day and right after training
multiblends during the day and before bed

I also understand that you and some lucky "duck" like to cook. ;)

Diet is good. I'm on a clean one

I have it listed probably pages back in my log.. Follows suit with SBT's most day's

most days it looks like this:
M1 Chicken, shredded wheat
M2 1 serving nuts
M3 chicken, carb of some sort
M4 whey protein, power ade
Weights
M5 whey protein, power ade
M6 turkey, lettuce onion, mushroom
M7 whey protein, ANPB
Bed

Plus supplements

Calories were at 2300 50% P 28% F 22% C

S suggested I go back to 2,000 at a 40/30/30 split

Yes we are coming up with a recipe book with all of our great ideas!

Scorp: Legs are coming in a lot better then last year! I'll be posting up pics soon...

....myth actually.

As long as total cals are maint. or below on the days average....later in the day meals have no effect on metabolism. I can post up that study if anyone wants to see it

Dropping carbs that early is devastating for thos who train late in the day - and as you know lower carbs = lower thyroid output = greater catabolism
.....supplementation makes a difference though

And yes, if someone trains late you still need your PWO carbs. Sort of a common sense rule. But everything else after 5-6 pm on a normal schedule should be fibrous carbs if at all.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

here is an exerpt referencing the study.....lemme see if I can find the raw data

Q: Can eating late in the evening make me fat?

A: Only if those calories are excess ones — which would more likely be the case for someone with a slow metabolism. Typical advice would be to avoid late-night eating and modify your carbohydrate intake later in the day. However, recent research would indicate that when you eat won’t change how much fat you put on. It’s like this: your body needs a certain amount of calories per day to be able to grow in response to your training. You feed your body that amount, irrespective of the time of day, and you’ll do fine. You feed your body less and you’ll get smaller, more and you’ll get bigger, and if you overdo it you could get fat.

Im not arguing with you......its simply a myth about eating ANY FOODS late at night as long as total cals are maintained.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I'm not talking any foods though. I would say protein and some fats...maybe the fibrous carbs. I see where you are coming from. Sure you want to keep your caloric goals in mind.

Facts About Evening Eating

Over the years, De Castro's research into meal sizes, meal patterns, and calorie distribution has turned up some other findings about evening eating:

Meal size tends to increase over the day, with peaks at lunch and dinner. One study showed that participants ate 42% of their total daily calories during and after dinner.
Our evening food intake tends to be relatively high in fat, compared to that at earlier meals.
The longer the gap between dinner and the previous meal or snack, the larger the dinner. Interestingly, the gap between meals is a significant predictor of meal size for dinner only.
People who eat lightly at night end up eating fewer calories and grams of fat overall than people who eat big dinners and nighttime snacks. According to the results of one study, people who had a light snack at night ate 9.3% fewer total calories and 10% less fat overall than those who ate larger nighttime snacks.

Obesity expert Edward Saltzman, MD, thinks the real problem is not so much that we burn fewer calories at night, but that nighttime eating tends to result from unhealthy meal patterns
