Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

October 2 2006

I love October
Mood= woke up crusty, but turning it around
Soreness = all over
Weight = 155.4 (Whowho new record for this bulk)

Food = Same, same (Still on this clean bulk, but think I'm retaining some water)

Weights this evening are hams, glutes, and abs

Notes=
1)Tried Bikram yoga for the first time. Always did Hatha yoga in the past. This is where they heat the room up and it's more focused on strength, and sweating. I did not realize this until I walked in the room and was like dang it's really hot in here and then it clicked... not Hatha. Needless to say I think I did enough crocodiles (really low pushup hold thingey) and I did arms and chest on friday, and shoulders saturday. Yeah...SORE.
Today my back is really sore and tight.
I also moved books, bookcase, and computer (office) from upstairs to the basement.. so two work-outs and not enough carbs.. well food in general was lower yesterday...

2) Played with body fat calipers yesterday. I think SBT and I are pretty good at doing it... Well I think her pinch is like ohhhh 10% high on me... it reads 25% (I hope u catch the sarcasm). I felt her holding onto a little water, and even when I was pinching myself I noticed a lot of water... so hopefully that made our pinches higher.

3)Ohhh Flor!!! that site is not exactly what we need. I am looking for the exact math calculation to figure out a 5 point pinch test. You would think a Personal training book would have it, but out of 3 books we have here none of them have it. Well one had a 3 point site test and then you look at this chart but I don't think it is accurate, and 5 point is still more accurate then 3. So I'm still looking!!! The calipers I would like to get are $200 and some change... I really don't like the digital ones for me because they are not accurate. I notice the more water I hold the more inaccurate they become, like a 8% difference. They are really good for someone just trying to monitor body fat loss/gain and can take pretty similar pinches, but for me.. I want more accuracy :)

4)The first time EVER I will say this... I could not eat all the PB I was supposed to eat last night (3T) I must be sick!!! Still have this cold too... Errr

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

hey tre...how many cals you trying for daily on your bulk?

i'm sure you know alot of the tricks to getting in the clean cals but i'll mention anyway. in my shakes i would throw in a cup of oats, anpb, and milk. so my shake went from 240 cals to about 700 cals.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

:wavey: Tre! I did the BodyGem test today. Do you remember what your RMR was when you did it? Did they tell you to add another ~10% for the thermic effect of food digestion? Mine was a tad on the low side. My RMR was 1280 cals and I was told I can account another 10% for food digestion so that would bring it to 1400 cals. Of course, then I would take my activity factor into account. But I guess I don't really have to worry that I'm eating too little at this point

U did it first thing in the a.m. right no food, or drink in you... out of bed..?

My RMR was like 1850 last year about this time.
Your low RMR is probably due to the fact of your cals being so low for such a long time... Your body kind of adjusted to what you were feeding it, and so that's the exact reason why some people's metabolism's drop... Not eating enough... Not eating enough to gain muscle. The only way to get it up is to increase cals.. I'm not saying jump cals but increase them like maybe by 100 cals a week till you get to where you need to be for muscle gains. I think that's what you are striving for right?!

I never really took into account the thermic effect of food with my clients'. I used the number out as their RMR, and adjusted their diet around that and it seemed to work really well.

Hello.... I'm shooting at 1800 40/30/30

As far as the shake advice hmmm.... You talking a pre- work-out shake?
I wouldn't be throwing PB or milk in a post work-out shake because it will slow down the assimilation process of the protein and that's when you want uptake to be fast.
Don't have to worry to much about my shakes... justa bout getting regular food in my system... I love my shakes

Thanks, Tre! Yup, I did it first thing in the morning with nothing in my stomach. I'm not going to change anything with my diet at this point. I ate at 10-12 x my bodyweight on my own and then when I signed up with the Savage program, they gave me a similar calorie range. I'm happy with it and am continuing to make progress with looking more cut while staying lean. For me, this was more of a clarification that I wasn't eating too little. I had expected the number to come out at 1350 or so, so it was a tad lower than what I thought. Again, I've gone on all-out cheat weekends (like at your show & my other weekend trips) and not gained anything, so indulging once in a while doesn't really seem to do too much damage despite a low RMR.

I'm going back later this week to get a BodPod test done (the machine was broken today) for bodyfat %. So it'll be good to have that number on hand as well.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

i eat whole food pre workout.....when cutting i keep it to just 1 can of tuna. i love my food so i take my carbs in at lunch and pwo. energy usually isn't a prob for me when i'm there....

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Hey Treil! Yup they're doing RMR's at my gym too these days, no bod pods though. They use to do hydrostatic weighing but got rid of it... bastages!

Hope you are feeling better, mental & physical.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Good workoutses, LOL
Still have your cold? That's amazing. Have you tried cold FX? I don't think it'll do any good this time, but next time as soon as you feel symptoms, you take it. Shortens duration & minimizes symptoms.
