red light camera/ driving question...

i was turning left onto a highway bypass. the light turned green and i had to wait for 2 cars to come straight before i could take my left hand turn. the red light camera snapped a pic of me while the light was still green. wtf did i do wrong?

i was always taught that if your light is green and you're turning, you can slowly start inching out into the intersection while still waiting for your right of way to turn. i've done that a million times in front of the same camera and countless cops, and have never gotten a ticket or warning for it. i called the desk Sargent and told/asked them about it and the lady said as long as i had a green light not to worry about it, and that they flash sometimes at random. how were you guys taught??

luckily i had just came from the bk drive through (dollar menu baby) and had jewish symbols all over me and my car. so even if i get a ticket i won't get a ticket!!

If they mail you copy of the picture and a ticket. Mail them a copy of the bills to pay the ticket.

maybve it snapped some other guy? if the lgiht is green, RED LIGHT camera makes no sense. 40% of photos are thrown out. I woudln't sweat it too much.

i'm assuming the comment she made about them flashing at random is to ensure that they are working properly (clear pictures) i had a green so i'm not worried. just thought it was dumb in general.

I have ended up in the middle of the road trying to make my turn when it goes red on my plenty of times. I have yet to receive a ticket in the mail.

not sure what the question is lol.. but they have a ton of these red light cameras in nyc... get caught blowing a redlight u pay a 50$ fine, no points on your license

I never could understand how those cameras are constitutional. The constitution says that you have the right to confront your accuser in court. In these cases the camera is the accuser and you can't question a camera.

I always pull my visor down n sit up real hi to hide my face if I'm cuttin it close... Also I sport the lic plate advertisments from the dealer for at least 2 years before I put the plates on lol

Here in Tennessee, the cameras are now video-based and they not only send you a picture -- they send you an online link that shows your violation. Then a member of the police force reviews the video and writes you a ticket -- so technically, it's a person writing the ticket.

We could put an end to license plate cameras in a hurry. Someone needs to setup a web site that lets you pick the state and the letters and crank-out an authentic-looking paper license plate. Then simply walk through parking lots and cover license plates with the fake plates. Then when someone covers their own plate the same way, the driver can simply say: "One of those damn kids must have got me in a parking lot". Even if only a small portion of plates are tainted, you've now added enough uncertainty into the process that you can claim you've been the butt of a practical joke.

I don't think you'll get a ticket. If you were already in the intersection, across the limit line while the light was green, you did exactly the right thing. My guess is that the camera was snapping the oncoming drivers who were preventing you from turning by running their red light. I think it can tell if your car was moving or stopped when the light turned red. If it was stopped, it's proof that you were already right where you were supposed to be. Those pictures are reviewed by the police before they send a ticket, and they need to keep it clean on their end, as they don't want to get a reputation for sending unfair tickets and getting the courts to outlaw the cameras.

I've been flashed several times & not gotten ticketed in the same way you're saying. The only time I did get a ticket it was my fault for not seeing where I was supposed to stop (a double intersection with side road and bus right-of-way, and multiple limit lines). I was looking to stop at the wrong one.
