Really tired on low carb diet

when did you start your diet.... i noticed the first week or two of low carbs my body was really run down and tired but it has adapted and now i have the energy like i did when i ate a lot of carbs.....so if you just started try giving it some time my man

usually when you go on low carb one effect you will feel is tiredness and lack of energy such that you feel, though with less than 50 grams of carbs a day why so many grams of ALA??? you could be going into too low of blood sugar levels and maybe this is why you are feeling so tired, r u just runninga low carb diet all week if so i think you are wasting your money with that much ala a day on only >50 grams of carbs a day.

yes give yourself time . sometimes when you first start low carb the 4 th day you hit the wall it takes 72 hrs to empty a muscle 3 full days so the 4 th day is when your diet really starts . never go hungry plenty of protein and flax oil and greens full yourself up and then find out where your at . email me if you need any info as i have done this diet for sometime with plenty of energy and fell great . ps been through all the hard stuff..

good luck kiwibrian :D

I've been getting greats gains as far as fat loss by following a 2-3 day low carb (high protein 70%, 25% fat, and 5% carb) followed by a 12 hour day carb-up with 5000 calories (70% carbs, 25% protein, and 5% fat)...3500 calories of carbs. Maybe this would be an option as it would cut the amount of days you are in a low-carb period. Although, you will still get a hypoglycemic 'effect' (not hypo altogether, but the effects from the lowering of blood glucose, etc). You could follow an isocaloric/zone type diet with 1-2 days of refeeding throughout the week. this would keep blood sugar levels more stable and avoid the drastic effects of the lowering of blood glucose soo much as seen on a low carb diet.

Also, like the other's mentioned, cut out the ALA once ketosis is established...that is if you are trying to establish it...which sort of looks like the case.

Exactly what I do. Works a treat. 3.5 days of lower carbs (around 100g a day), 0.5 days of refeeding with high carbs (after my workout half-way through day 4, until the end of day 4).

Tuesday: Legs, Low-carb
Wednesday: Chest, Low-carb
Thursday: Off, Low-carb
Friday: Back, PM refeed after early afternoon workout (usually around 1-3PM).
Saturday: Arms/Shoulders, Low-carb
Sunday: Off, Low-carb
Monday: Off, Low-carb
Tuesday: Legs, PM refeed as per Friday
etc...

As you can see, the refeeds change days. When they fall on a rest day I use a 6-hour PM refeed with very high carb meals.

3.5 days of lowering carbs is enough for me. The refeeds keep leptin levels up and make sure workouts are productive. They also give you something to look forward to and help prevent any problems with cheating...

my goal is to loose 30-35 pounds in 10 weeks. This is my first week and it is tough. My goal is to get into ketosis. Today is day 4 and my ketostix only show trace. I am also on 600mg EQ/wk, 50mg Winny EOD. 6 clen a day for two weeks then ECA stack. I am also doing a 5%-40%-55% T3 cycle. I have always been overly thick and this is the last chance I am going to give myself to change that.

So it may me a good thing to have a cheat day every 4 day rather than 6 days?

Opinions, Comments, Flame?

Thanks

I've been using 4 days cycle and it works great!

I also read that as you get leaner say under 8-9% bodyfat you should drop your cycle days so you low carb for 2 days and then carb up on the 3rd.

I'm actually using a 3 on 1 off followed by a 2 on 1 off
so it fits into a 7 day week - and I think this may work even better

Right on. The lower your BF% drops, the more frequent you need to refeed.

You know this was mentioned in the article by Diana Dennis that I took my diet from - this was in 1992 I think - so even back then they already knew about this refeed thing, but I guess it was from trial and error more than scientific knowledge. She even mentioned that as you get leaner you switch from the 3 on 1 off to a 2 on 1 off.

This is all so exciting and interesting!!! :jump:
