READ I may have ripped my Pec..

at least its not a major tear, as you wouldnt even be able to press the keys on the keyboard or get out of bed. good luck at the doc

There is no way to know for sure how bad a tear it is until you get an MRI.

When I went to the emergency room that night, the ER doc said it was probably just a slight tear in the muscle belly of the pec and would eventually heal. The next day I followed up with my orthopedic doc and the MRI revealed a complete tear right off the bone.

When the injury happened it hurt quite a bit but I wasn't in pain as bad as I thought a tendon tear would hurt. It all depends how high your pain threshold is.

Good luck Mike and go see an orthopedic doc.

If it is a complete tendon tear off the bone what you have to look forward to is about 5 months of hell, maybe more.

After I had the surgury to reattach the tendon to the bone my arm was strapped to my body and imobilized for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks they took out the staples and now I have a lovely scar almost 5 inches long. Then I start physical therapy which is nothing more than stretching and trying to regain flexibility. The stretching was pure hell. I could barely move my arm. I went to therapy 3 times a week and the days I didn't go I would would do the same stretching exercises at home 4 or 5 times a day. About 2 weeks after starting therapy I had regained almost all flexibilty. The therapists and doc were amazed it was healing so fast as I was about a month ahead of recovery.

Finally 2 months after the operation I was able to start very light resistance training. I didn't have the strength to bench much more than the bar. Everyweek my strength improved and I got stronger. Now almost 10 months later I would estimate my left pec is at about 90% of what it was. The doc said it would never be as strong as before but its still too early to tell. I hope to prove him wrong.

I hope it is a minor muscle tear and nothing more. Your pecs are my ideal target ever since u posted ur pics. I wish I could have them! sob. :bawling:

Thanx for your replies of info bros. I'm on my way to the doc now. I bet they don't carry stronger pain meds than what I have in my on arsenal, ha, ha. I let you know what they say.

Those bastards did nothing for me today. Showing that I still have full range of motion in my left arm. the scheduled me for an appointment tomorrow and told me to continue w/ motrin. I asked for something stronger and the nurse said maybe the doc will get me some tomorrow. It's a good thing I keep my own shit (valium, temgesic and the nasty nubain). the hell with them, I'll give my chest a break and squat my ass off until the chest heals.

sorry to hear that, Mike...

COnsider this:

full range of motion probably means a minor tear.
If your skin is not totally black and blue by now, you can comfort yourself in the idea that its not as bad as it could have been.

good luck to you...
