R-ala - My first try

As an anti-oxidant they are at least not competing with each other like they do with your insulin levels. The s is a pretty good anti-oxidant. The liver studies however were done with r-ALA and I haven't seen any that used the racemic so I don't know how effective it is.

Thanks for the update. Can you tell us more about your dosage protocol (i.e. frequency/rate of ingestion), and also, how many total carbs are you taking in during the day? At what level did you take the racemic mix and what were your results with it?

I will say that you are probably right in going with pure R, especially since you seem to be dosing long-term at a fairly high level...

I'm assuming that 4-5 mg per 100 ml is trace ketosis?
 
yes very light trace ketosis. basically i spread the ala evenly w/ carb meals, about 200mg each. total carbs around 200-250.

give me another day or so and ill go into more detail w/ updates.

I'm not on a keto diet now but my diet consists of 73 carbs/ day. veggies fat and protien most of the day. i took 100mg before eachmeal today... i should just try a keto strip and see if i am in ketosis. I'll go pick them up tomorrow

Not for me. Im allergic to ALA (or at least racemic ALA), at the quantities needed for all the benifits. Ive been on the r-ALA at 600mg per day and so far no allergic reactions whatsoever!!

That makes perfect sense and backs up what the studies show. The r-ALA is natural and your body knows what to do with it. The s-ALA it doesn't.
I am glad you are able to use the r-ALA bro, that's the best post I've read all week.
 
How soon before you eat do you guys take your ALA to get the amazing results you've posted so far? Also, wheres the best/cheapest place to get the r-ALA??
