ok, so i stay in the between a 3rep max and a 1 rep max on ME days


i just re-read louie simmons article about the importance of volume, and am asking myself the following

i'm not all too fond of cancling out the 5x5 training since i ask myself where do i get some compound movements at higher than 3 reps - since hypertrophy is a question

would it be possible on DE days to, instead of doing 8-12 sets of 2-3 reps with 50-60% to do (as written in the article by louie simmons) about 3 sets of 6 reps at 70%, next week go up to 75% and 5reps for 3 sets, then 80% 4reps of 3 sets?
with this scheme i'd be in the prescribed volume range and do some squatting and benching with 'rather' heavy weight - instead of speed training with 50-60% of the weight

of course, you should find what works best for you. but remember speed days are there to help you build speed/explosiveness. there is nothing wrong with doing a max effort box squat attempt on one of your me days at some point and i'm a believer you should. you can set the box at different heights for different records to mix things up even more
