Protein Powder Is A Waste ?

I also think protein powder is horse shit. I've never gained a thing.. and it fills me up... preventing me from being hungry for real food.

Maybe it's good to drink right before bed... or right after a workout.. I dunno... but I think you'd get about the same benefit from drinking a tall glass of milk (16g protein).
 
Protien shakes are to be added to your diet/meals not to replace them.
 
To the guys who don't like protien shakes as a replacement for real food are you eating every 2-3 hours?

I eat two whole food meals (lunch and dinner) a day and do not have a problem gaining weight while bulking or lossing weight while cutting. At work liquid meals or a bar work for me. I will say that I eat oatmeal and a protein shake for breakfast, but I don't count that as a whole food meal.
 
you can get all the amino acids you need from plant sources... beans, grains, nuts... it isn't nescaserry to eat meats to grow.. nothing magical about it... amino acids are amino acids... reasons to avoid meat... well saturated fat... most fats that come from plant sources will be mono or poly unsaturates.
 
I only drink 2 shakes max in a day. One post workout and one before bed. I get the rest of my protein from real food and use my protein shakes as supplements, like they're meant to be.

When I'm done my workout I want a fast acting source of protein and that's why I use CFM whey isolate. I also eat a meal after that shake for slower acting protein, so the shake can't possibly hurt.

Shakes definitely aren't neccessary, but they can be very beneficial. I know plenty of guys much bigger than me who scoff at my shakes, but they pound down meat and still grow.
 
Shakes are great for protien in between meals or when you don't have time to make something. I find these are the times they come in handy:

1. First thing in the morning
2. At work
3. Coming Home from work
4. 30 minutes before gym
5. Before Bed
 
KingKong, you don't have to use them in ALL of those situations, but thats when I notice the convenience of it all really comes into play.
