Protein Halflife?

New member
After injegition(I can't spell), what is the half-life or total active life of the protein I just ate? ie. how long until I need to eat more to keep a constant level of building blocks in my blood?

If I am not mistaken, half life does not come into play until something actually gets into the blood stream. Actual digestion time can vary based on many factors. If you eat a rice cake its gone pretty quick and into your blood stream rapidly. If you eat a porterhouse it could be hours.

OK. given that everyone digests at a different rate/efficiency, once the protein has been broken into aminos, how long will they be in the blood?

It's hard to say. The blood is the amino acid pool. When proteins are broken down, that's where they go until they are needed by some cell.
