Prop 19 in Cali is failing :(

As a business person who makes their living off of the distribution of weed (my husband and I own and operate a dispensary) I am amazed at how un-educated people are about marijuana. I see MANY college educated professional patients, most of them middle aged, on a daily basis who not only maintain their jobs and support a family but are also upstanding citizens of the community. Their is such a misconception of this movement and yes it it true that many of the "dealers" would vote against making marijuana legal. If legalized they would be forced to go legit and do it legally (by the states standards) or they would be put out of business and have to get a "regular" job. Let me ask you this, if you all are so worried about people getting high on the job and putting people at risk then why not demand testing for pharmaceutical drugs as well like oxycotin, methadone, percocet, benzo's just to name a few. To assume all who smoke, or ingest marijuana are unmotivated losers is ridiculous. I have seen more destruction from alcohol and prescribed drugs then I have ever seen from pot. I am very proud of what I do and very proud of my husband for his hard work in this industry. Everyday I see sick people that thank me and express their relief to be able to come into our center to get medicine and NOT have to buy it out of an asshole's backpack! How would you all preferred it be distributed. Centers, dealers, or in pill form from pharmaceutical companies (because the person working next to you could have gotten it that way too)?

100% with you! I might blaze once or twice a week, sometimes even 4 times on the weekend, but hey look at me, I attend U.C Davis, I work 40 hours a week, I have a good relationship with my parents, and with my lady, I even go to Church every Sunday. Yes I smoke weed... I hate this stereotype...

Last night I was driving this elderly woman home, I turn on the radio and came the news about the election, "prop 19 failed to pass" the she started blabbing about a conspiracy theory.. how the Govt. only tells you what you need to know, they dont tell you how many car accidents, deaths etc there's gonna be or how many people will start using other drugs.. I literally was about to kick her ass out of my car.. fucking ignorance!

What ever I'm not too disappointed about this i know in the near future we'll be smoking legally :)

They do test for those. Ha, maybe you if you worked a real job you'd know that =P

I'm just kidding but lol @ how defensive you got :D

You do know weed dealers, dispenseries and farmers up in Humboldt country voted AGAINST legalization. Isn't that funny - farmers in the biggest weed county in the us are against legalization. Wonder why :)

They voted against it because they do not have the $ and know how to go into legitimate business (dispensary) and they make their living on the black market hence everything I wrote in my first post! Funny I have had surgeries in my life and went back to work while still taking pain meds but was never tested. By the way I worked a hospital too. Tell me what employer tests for prescription medication. Do they test for atavan, valums, xanax? Do you know how many people I know take these w/o a prescription and DRIVE to work everyday. Why not make the complaint in regard to them fucking up and hurting/killing someone?

I worked for two different engineering firms that drug tested me. And yes they test for benzodiazepines. Also it's illegal to use those drugs in a way other than prescribed - so our current rules for pot are consistent with this.

THAT'S ILLEGAL. so i guess people did make the complaint already :)

I'm with jaime and Charles on this one. Wanted to see that pass. Hopefully in a few years.

I also wanted to see Boxer and Brown lose. :( Fucking Californians.

So would you be fired if you used these drugs if prescribed by a physician?
