Problem Areas...

So tonight I was looking in a three-way mirror (which was a bad choice!) and looked at my chronic "problem area." For the life of me, I cannot get rid of my "saddlebags." Even when I've been at my tiniest (and I've gotten tiny...), I've always had them. I just gain all of my weight in my butt and thighs. I am sooooo frustrated right now!

Does any one else have chronic problem areas? How do you deal with them? Both physically and mentally? I think it bothers me more mentally than anything...

Thanks for letting me vent...sometimes it just helps to get it off my chest :(

I'm right there with ya hun!! Saddlebag & butt!! HOWEVER~ I have noticed since starting to do squats & lunges, that I've made huge improvements. If you don't do them now, look into it. You'll be surprised

me too.....

so my bodyfat has gone down even more, but my butt and hips wont let go of the fat there. the area is pretty smooth, i can see quads and hams definition clearly, cellulite is gone, but its still fat and it is staying put, inner thigh fat too....grrrr! i do not want my thighs to rub together at all when i walk! double grr! if i measure lower and upper bodyfat % ratios like ironwings, i bet it'll be pretty drastic. :(

boobies are getting smaller too. i'm about 1/2 a cup down.

I'm with you all too on this!!!!!

I am putting on lean mass on my legs but still have saddlebags that don't seem to change!

I have dropped down to bare minimum on cup size so much that if I go for a swim with a bikini on all i need to do is lift my arm and come out the side as it is nearly all pec!!!!

I hear that yohimbe helps with 'problem areas'?

The abs and butt are the last areas to get lean. Hang in there and will come..
The leaner you are, the smaller the boobs, unfortunately.. LOL!

Well, at least I'm not the only one :D

I've been doing squats for a while now, and just added lunges about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully I'll see some more improvement. It's good to know that's the last place we typically lose fat...maybe it's just clinging on for dear life.

And of course, I never had much in the boob department to begin with, but that has NO problem disappearing ;)

Where the butt meets the hams is a womans worst nightmare. I can get everything looking good except that. Came across this article and am going to give it a try today. Nothing new but something different for me--one leg stiff legged deadlifts and 5 minute intervals on the treadmill at a 12 incline for 30 minutes.

Thandie is correct ,no matter how much you train the last areas of stubborn fat is the Spare tire(saddlebags) & the butt!

just keep at it, that last bit of stubborn fat is gonna hold on for dear life, but be persistent and you will prevail.

Who ever said it was easy?

wow one legged stiff legged deads
never though of it ,

its not just a girls problem but a guys also
I get watery in the butt and hamstrings as well. (as you can see in the pic )
My hams really suck ,when shaved tanned up ,dieted down
they show up " ok " but still ass and hams can never seem to get 100% where I want them. Its like I get cut up all over and the ass looks soft, round and bouncey

plus gettingthe water out of the inner thighs is a bitch for me
I am gonna try one legged stuff legged deads they actually look fucking brutal
here I am about 12% bf 5'8 215-220 lbs viens in calves and quads viens in biceps and chest and a fat ol ghetto ass
I have only been down to 7% as a test run to see how I would look a few weeks out from a show
Even at 7% my butt was still soft round and bouncey looking , unless directics suck out the last bit of water I have no idea how to get it out yet
So dont feel bad girls your not alone

I doubt i'll ever compete becuase of it getting down to 7% was hardenough for me getting down to 3-4% is prob what it would take have a rock hard ass and thighs and i think id prob pass out and die if my Bf % got that low

Thanks for the link! I think I'm going to try the one leg stuff legged deadlifts.

I'm just so glad to hear that everyone else has 'hang-ups' too. And you're right RADAR...no one said it was going to be easy!!! I need to work on my patience! :p

I still have along way to go butt :) the squats & lunges are working.

Holy shit! That is a serious butt and thigh transformation! Huge congrats!

As to the question, there is a certain protocol that can be used to target these "stubborn" spots. These spots (butt/thighs for female, belly/lovehandles for men) contain a high number of alpha-2 adrenoreceptors which inhibit fat mobilization. So while you are working hard and cutting calories, fat in these areas are not being mobilized for energy. Like thandie said, they will be the very last to be mobilized after there is no more fat to pull from other places.

So what is needed is strategic use of an alpha2 inhibitor along with high intensity interval cardio to mobilize the fat followed by steadystate to use it.

The alpha2 inhibitor is called yohimbine hcl. Start at 5mg and assess your tolerance (your heartrate will increase) from there.

So here's the protocol. Insulin will kill the effects of yohimbine so this can't be done within 4 hours of eating. The best time is first thing in the morning. So,

1. Wake up, eat nothing, drink nothing but water.
2. Take yohimbine and optionally green tea capsules.

after about 20/30 minutes do.

1. 10 minutes of HIIT. Do either 1 minute high intensity / 1 minute medium or 15 seconds balls to the wall / 45 seconds medium.
2. Rest for 5 minutes to allow mobilized fat to enter bloodstream
3. Perform 20 to 30 minutes of medium intensity steady state cardio to use up mobilized fat.

There are some additions to this such as a bit of caffeine but its best to get comfortable with the fundamentals first.
