Possible to lose BF and put on muscle at the same time?

If you are a newbie trainer or have some freaky genetics, yes.

First time you diet down for a comp, yes.

Other than that, it is usually maintaining what you have and taking off the bodyfat.

So as a "seasoned beginner" would you say lose the beer belly before trying to bulk up? Or bulk up and then lose the beer belly or what...

Eating a ton of calories to bulk up and doing cardio to burn calories/trim doesn't make sense.

My friend did a test/tren ace cycle over the summer. He got shredded on it and I mean cut. If I had to guess his BF% was under 5. But he also ended up 15 pounds heavier from where he started. He is a seasoned user so I dont know if that helps and its not like he was fat to begin with.
What I do know...
5 9
Beginning weight was 205
His ending weight was 220
His BF% was under 10 when he started cause he was vascular and you could see all his abs.
When he finished that cycle it was definitely under 5 because you could see everything!!!!

If you have a beer belly, then I would not recommend any more bulking.

How about training, some cardio, eating a healthy balanced diet and see how your body transforms.

So can you give me some pointers? Of my time at the gym what % to cardio and what % to lifting? Should I focus on more reps or more weight or what?

I have decent muscles and the beer gut isn't very large- but its more than I'd like it to be. I'd like to tirm it off but not lose what I've worked so hard to earn.

Investigating diets as well.. :Chef:

Percentage times?

Interesting question.

As most peeps hate cardio, I do think that 75% of the time training, 25% of the time doing cardio to start with.

If you are not getting the results you want, up the cardio.

There are a lot of great threads on diet on this site.

I would check the women's forum, there is a sticky with a link to the best threads for diet and training.

We do like to be organised and keep a clean forum :)
