Police took computer?

If the police took my computer for a unrelated offense, can and will they find my postings here and is there anything they can do about it. I have allready cleaned house.

Did you leave your password and username on your PC or was it in your head? I would suggest you delete your account here on EF but thats just what I would do.
 
It depends on what the offense was. If they are goign to do a data recovery on your drive then they will find all of the information on it regardless. There is no way to selectively gather data off the drive, they will just get one big blob of it and then go in and filter out things of importance.

It's highly unlikely they will come to elite to read your posts that you put up personally but if there are any files with offline information then they will surely have access to that. To many variables to say for sure unless you know what they are looking for
 
Probably going to go though it with a fine tooth comb if they took it..If your usename passwords saved in cookies they will see anything they want..I use east tec eraser 2005 one click on any file will killed it from anyone finding it..Download it search for crack then its free...Always delect cookies,temp files ect...

They have to have solid evidence to make a case. If they didn't get you with any gear, then they cannot prove that your posts were anything more then role playing. Don't cop to anything no matter how bad they try to scare you. If they find something on here, they'll probably try to use it against you to trick you into some bullshit deal. NOT GUILTY ALL THE WAY! No deals unless it's from a felony to a misdemeanor.
 
Ask George/Digger to delete your past posts. I had that done when my gf started reading my old posts once.....5,000 gone.
 
As long as u didn't use your computer to buy anything u should be fine

legally there is nothing wrong with posting messages on a message board. Posting messages is not a crime! However i can see why you are worried.

If you have cleaned house make sure to clean the cpu too- CyberScrub and norton utilities both work well at permanent deletion!

yeah,the man will find whatever they wan't on you're puter,so if they took it they will look through it real good
 
uhhh, why did they take your hard drive to begin with..I mean thats not everyday procedure..
but while we are on the subject, maybe some bro's that have IT knowledge could start a thread about PC security..but please make it for dummies, I know i'm an idiot when it comes to this shit....jc

I didn't have anything other than traffic violations, and I know all that simple legal stuff. You have to know your rights.
A low-life bitch "Police Officer" lodged a flase complaint against me that could have landed me in serious trouble. She was just tryiing to squeeze some money. She contacted 6 lawyers and each of them dropped her like dead weight after finding the facts.
Thank god that investigating police officers and other officials saw through her lies and I was cokpletely vindicated.

your thread topic say's "police took computer?" then your thread actually says "IF" so which is it, did they take it or are you just getting prepared just in case? do what these guys said, clean your cookies, dont save your password on it, and get a program that will wipe out your whole computer with a few key strokes in a hurry. at leased youll be somewhat covered. now whatever they can pull from it im not sure after its clean but its better than opening the door for them.
 
I don't understand why police would be interested in your computer unless you already got arrested, you were involved in drugs (including aas), or child pornography. Hopefully not the latter. However, you're being kinda vague though. Could you clarify a bit, maybe we can help you be at ease.

If the seizure was totally unrelated as you say then I wouldn't worry about it. Its outside the permissable scope of their search warrant (which they needed to get your pc in the first place). Besides we're all just a bunch of roll players meeting online, right? Nobody here actually USES aas. We just think they're cool because of all the media coverage regarding baseball and all. Catch my drift? And besides, if you cleaned house you're ok. You can talk about crack and heroin all you want. Its when you're caught with it that you have a problem.
 
what were you arrested for they will be analyzing you pc for whatever it is they suspect you of & if they find anything else on it they will try to use it against you if they don't find what they are looking for. your not telling the whole storry whats the deal?

if you have to ask this, that means they'll most likely know everything you did on the computer for the last 1 year or so

get a lawyer and get one now

If u ever talked about buying or selling ... u are screwed. Or kiddie porn. That really pisses them off. If u talked about buying or selling, u will be in maybe a little trouble. If u have any 10 year old boys on your computer, u will be in trouble AND they will take turns kicking your ass.
 
Make sure you direct them to this site while you're at it encourage them to go platinum also.

The feds (IRS CID) came to my house over two years ago with a search warrant (and guns drawn and pointed at me, my wife and two year old son)and took my computers. Within a few weeks they gave them back after making copies of my hard drive I'm sure. I'm pretty sure they made copies before they left my house and business and they still took them. They had over two truck loads of records in all. They still have my records and god knows what else they took. They didn't find any drugs, but believe me they looked. They even field tested some hangover powder hoping it was cocaine. I know nothing about cleaning up my computer so I'm sure they got everything I ever did on my computer. By the way, I am still waiting to be charged with a crime but they say it is only a matter of days at this point. For the past two years they have paraded over two hundred of my former employees, friends, family and business associated in front of the Grand Jury. They especially like harassing all of my old girlfriends (you know the ones that probably hate me) and they love finding people that are in trouble for something else and lean on them to make something up about me. From what they are telling my defense attorney it is only going to boil down to tax crimes, but the whole focus of their investigation was trying to get me for much more serious offenses. They just used the guise of a tax investigation to be able to dig up my ass and look for anything else that would put me away for a long time. What I'm getting at is that without knowing what they want from you and whether they are local, state or feds it is very hard to know what they are really up to. You should have a good idea what your situation is and should act appropriately. The best advice anyone can give you right now is to keep your mouth shut (even to your closest friends) and hire a criminal attorney and listen to him. Remember, most people talk their way into jail.
 
you have posted stuff on a public forum. It wouldn't be to hard to find your post without your hard drive. If it does have something to do with child porn may you rot in hell though..

You need to come clean. Why did they take your computer? Once we know this you will get better advice.

Only Tax crimes? Well that's what they got Capone for.
I've had my phone tapped and had to testify in front of a grand jury about something related to a friend of mine. If you don't have a backbone they will eat you alive.
 
presuming that the police have not yet taken you're computer then if you're really that concerned all you need to do is replace your hard drives (not expensive) and destroy the old ones......dadaaaa no more evidence
 
usually the warrant to ceize your computer pertains to another offense..hence they cannot arrest you for stating that you sell weed if they are looking for kiddie porn..they are only allowed to search for the specified item..all else is to be ignored...
