Police shoot dog, then cite owner for leash violation

oh, it's because it is dangerous being a police officer....almost as dangerous as being a gardener.

Commercial Fishermen 162
Timber Cutters 154
Air Pilots 65
Construction Laborers 37
Garbage Collectors 34
Truck Drivers 28
Electricians 12
Gardeners (non farm) 11
Police 11
Carpenters 7

HAHAHA...that's awesome! how the hell do gardeners die though? Allergic reactions or some shit? big thorns?

But i bet if you look at injuries, police are higher than gardners...

And people wonder why I have no respect for the police.

i have respect for police, but this was completely out of line. the officer knew there was a dog, with its owner, in the backyard, the officer was told the dog was harmless, and the officer shot it anyways. sorry, but you dont go roaming around in the dark firing off shots at random like that. this female cop probably only got the job in the first place becaise of affirmative action bullshit.

i'd be tempted to deck her if she shot my dog. of course that badge means not only would she get away with being threatened by tiny cocker-spaniel, but she's untouchable. shit if i shouted at her i'd robably be arrested

get PETA on it and get her suspended. :D

welcome to the unforgiving nature of the world. No longer can you ever let your guard down. Dogs are like children, they don't know any better. If you want to protect your dogs from the police keep them leashed, locked up or in the house. while I think the officer should be investigated and was likely wrong for what he did the owner was wrong for not thinking about the possibility that the dog might not be a welcome sight.

Yeah, it sucks hard no doubt about that. But the officer did not go into the house to an aggressive dog and he didn't go to where the dog was contained and shoot it. The dog charged end of story. If the dog had rabies we'd be praising him for being a good shot and saving ass.

Related to that in a way I see it all the time though. Parents crying and boo hooing to everyone in earshot when their unattended kid runs out in traffic or when something goes wrong because they left their kids in the car while they ran in to the store to buy smokes.

Responsibility for another life is a bitch sometimes. never let your guard down if you love your animal and don't want the rest of the world to negatively affect their life.

umm, this dog was with its owner in the owners backyard. the police were not summoned on anything related to any kind of violence. the officer was informed about the presence of the dog. the officer was informed the dog was harmless before she felt the urge to unload on it.

why would the officer refuse to identify herself after shooting the dog?

they even had the balls to fine the lady for not having the dog on the leash when it was in her own fucking back yard.

stop trying to push the blame off on the owner, because that is complete bullshit.

for the love of god, it was a fucking cocker spaniel.

any officer who feels threatened by a small, harmless dog and chooses to fire their weapon blindly at night does not even deserve a fucking desk job. i bet she only got the fucking job because of affirmative action.

this piece of shit should not be suspended, should not be investigated, etc. she should be fucking sued and fired.

yep. Yes it sucks the cop shot her, and the cop probably was wrong. But the owner was also wrong for allowing this situation to get created in the first place. People need to be PROACTIVE, not reactive in life. I can't believe this owner sat on the porch knowing full well her dog has a history of running and charging the gate when strangers come by. You know this was not the first time.

the dog was with its owner in the fucking backyard! how the fuck was the owner at fault?

are you saying we should all tie and gag our dogs because the cops might come by and blow its head off? sorry, but most people dont think cops are going to murder their harmless dog when they see them. shit, the fire dept might stop by, so i better make sure there is nothing flammable lying around, or they might torch the house.

ridiculous.

The owner's friend was about to commit suicide. It wasn't like this was a calm situation and the owner could think, "gee, the cops are coming, maybe I should whip up a batch of cookies and some tea, and get the dog inside on a leash."

If the dog had indeed attacked her, and knocked her down, then I could see her shooting the dog...but a small dog running at you doesn't really represent a threat. What if the woman came running out at her? Would she have shot the woman?

lets not forget the owner was reo-occupied trying to stop a man commit suicide. chainng up her less than knee high cocker spaniel probably wasn;t high on her list of priorities especially since an officer of the law shouldn;t really be scared of something with big floppy ears

The more and more I see on the TV with gun happy US cops makes me think we have the right idea in this country(ie normal cops don't carry guns........ a shit load of other nasty stuff but nothing lethal).
