What did the principal do? He called the cops! Over a 12 year old! I could maybe understand if it was a 250 lb high school kid, but a 12 year old? How can any of the other kids have respect for his authority now? I hate to sound like a grumpy old man, but when I was 12 years old, the principal was someone who was feared by kids.
As a fellow old man I agree that the Asst Principal actually was feared..
But consider that the School cannot touch the kid, can't threaten him to call his parents as the parents likely don't care or are not home, can't give him detention because there are not enough teachers willing or able to stay late or come in early or on Saturday to sit and restrain him, can't even talk down to him as to what he has done or be attacked by the media or the fellow students..
He has little choice in the liberal minded, underfunded, soft, loving public school system we have allowed to flurish..
