Pantothenic Acid: IT WORKS

Yes, you should be able to buy it at most supplement stores.
Try and get the highest mg per capsule you can. Less pills to pop that way.

i've been taking pantothentic acid all my life (along with many other vites)...never had acne b4. can't say it was the pant or not though.....

What's He got to do with it trial0r?

I couldn't agree more, I was a walking zit about 3 weeks ago; back, shoulders, and even crawling down my forearms. I have been taking the acid at about 15 grams a day for 10 days and it has cleared up DRAMATICALLY. Granted there are still some spots I'd like to clear up, but I cannot argue with the results.

Along with the pills, I have also been showing 2-3 times a day, using the Nuetragena scrub and lotion, and sometimes using (I think its Hazel something or other) rubbing alcohol between the scrub and the lotion to dry it out even more. And don't forget about tanning a few times a week!

Just my two cents.

When I first read this post about 5 minutes ago, I said what the hell is pantothenic acid? I went on the web and found this!!!

Pantothenic acid is Vitamin B5.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Pantothenic Acid is an antioxidant and antistress vitamin.

In an experiment with rats swimming in cold water, the animals were able to keep swimming much longer in direct
proportion to the Vitamin B5 given to them. Similarly, frog muscles soaked in a Vitamin B5 solution were able to do twice as
much work before giving out. It is a key enzyme in the energy production pathway of the body.

Pantothenic Acid also increased the lifespans of rats by 20% when given in doses of 12 mg/kg/day.

Pantothenic Acid was also an effective weight loss adjunct in a study done in Hong Kong. Subjects were placed on a 1000
calorie per day diet and given 2500 mg of Pantothenic Acid 4 times daily. The subjects lost an average of 2.5 pounds per
week but experienced no hunger or weakness or other ill effects. After reaching their goal, they maintained it on 2000 to
3000 mg per day.

A large dose of Pantothenic Acid was also shown to eliminate acne. After 2 or 3 days, subjects found a dramatic decrease
in skin oil. Acne was brought under control in just a few weeks. Even the worst subjects of severe acne responded to daily
doses of 15 to 20 grams a day for 6 months. Subjects also used a 20% Pantothenic Acid cream applied 4 to 6 times a
day. (Any pharmacy should be able to make this.)

Pantothenic Acid also greatly accelerates wound healing.

CAUTIONS

Good info Badgermilk...I didn't realize this stuff could be very beneficial and I've only been taking it for 13 years! I think it's ironic though that I'm not prone to stress or anger, have always had low BF, and have never had acne. Not that I'm saying it's from the pant, but hey, ya never know..:D

damn from all these replies, im gonna go for 15g per day to see how that works...ill try it out for a few weeks and let you know.

I just bought some Pantothenic Acid today at a nutrition store...100 caps 500mg/each $17.99 for 2 bottles, 100 caps each, Also I found the following info on the web about Accutane and thought I would share...

Sounds like pretty scary shit....

Accutane

I. Definition:

Isotretinoin (trade name: Accutane) is a powerful drug used in the treatment of acne. Four to five months of isotretinoin treatment usually
leads to clearing of acne for one year or more after the medicine is stopped. Most other acne-controlling medicines are antibacterial
agents, which are effective only if the medicine is used daily.

II. Side Effects:

Isotretinoin isn't a permanent cure for acne, although it often buys time until nature clears your skin. Your skin may stay clear for
months, even years, after isotretinoin is stopped.

In about one person in 10, acne comes back after one year. About one person in four has acne again after two years. If your acne
returns, antibiotics may work, or you may be treated with isotretinoin again.

The use of daily alpha hydroxyacids will help prevent small flare-ups after a course of Accutane.

Why shouldn't all acne patients take isotretinoin? Isotretinoin has significant side effects:

Side Effects: Frequency:

Chapped lips 90%
Dry skin and itching 80% - the use of daily alpha hydroxacids will help prevent this side effect.
Dryness of nose, mild nosebleed 80%
Irritation of the eyelids and eyes 40% - Vitamin E 400 IU each day may lessen this side effect.
Joint and muscle pains 15%
Temporary hair thinning 10%
Rash 7%
Intestinal symptoms 5%
Urinary symptoms 5%
Headache 5%
Increased sensitivity to sunburn 5% - the use of daily sunscreen will help prevent this side effect.
Decreased night vision <1%
Depression, thoughts of suicide <1%

The most damaging side effect of isotretinoin is serious birth defects if taken during pregnancy.

It is critically important for women not to take isotretinoin while pregnant, and not to become
pregnant while taking it. A woman who does get pregnant while on isotretinoin must be prepared to have an abortion and must state this in
writing before many physicians will prescribe isotretinoin for her.

III. How does isotretinoin work?

Isotretinoin decreases the amount of oil produced by the skin's sebaceous (oil) glands. It may be as long as two months before you see
improvement in your skin. There's no medicine we can add to speed up isotretinoin's action. In fact, sometimes acne gets worse during
the first month or so of treatment. Side effects, such as lip dryness, begin before the acne starts to clear.

IV. How To Use Isotretinoin:

Take the medicine with food, you can take the entire daily dose with supper, this increases the absorption of the medicine.

V. Long-term Results:

Isotretinoin isn't a permanent cure for acne, although it often buys time until nature clears your skin. Your skin may stay clear for
months, even years, after isotretinoin is stopped.

In about one person in 10, acne comes back after one year. About one person in four has acne again after two years. If your acne
returns, antibiotics may work, or you may be treated with isotretinoin again.

The use of daily alpha hydroxyacids will help prevent small flare-ups after a course of Accutane.:D
