So a few times in my life I have slept "wrong" and woken up with a stiff neck where I can't fully turn to one side and I have some pain.
Sunday, I don't remember waking up with a painful neck, but I played volleyball on the beach and after 3 games my neck really hurt. I had my girlfriend massage it some, I stretched, and I played 2 more games.
That night my neck was on fire. Its the right side of my neck. My right trap, my right upper back, my right arm and hand.
This is the most intense its ever been, I am home from work today because it hurts a lot to simply move around.
The last time this happened, I went to my Dr. and got physical therapy and it still took a few weeks to resolve. Right now I just want to get out of this period of acute pain. I've been taking ibuprofin, icing, heating, and generally trying to keep from moving it into uncomfortable positions.
Any have any experience with this and have any home treatments that have worked particularly well? My Dr. isn't in the office for two weeks and I don't really want to go see her substitute. I feel like this should be something I can rectify on my own.
