Bastard, our first day of class was Monday!

Just remember that you're paying to go to class and learn -- and walk out a few years later with a degree and the knowledge to go with it. You can party anywhere for free... socialize anywhere for free... screw girls anywhere for free... remember to not let the little perks of college life become your sole purpose for being there. You're paying a lot of money, so make sure to keep your priorities straight.

And don't think that any given incoming freshman class is representative of college as a whole. Lotsa freshmen wash out. For example, at Purdue, only about half of the freshmen engineering major hopefulls find themselves still enrolled in engineering by their sophmore year. I know it's similar with Penn State as well... make sure you remember the true purpose of college... because the evil and maledictive "Real World" lurks outside of every campus... anxiously awaiting that inevitable time which each and every student must face. Furtively seething in malcontent, the Real World cackles with evil laughter knowing full well the fate that awaits the nascent youth who naively embellish in their own blitheness, privy to the invidious cacodaemon looming in the shadows, waiting...
