OT: Need advice, pretty serious. Moral delimma. Nobody should face this.

I can tell you firsthand what it's like being attacked by a German Shephard. While the dog didn't bite me he did take a full on charge at me and scared the living shit outta me. I was running full sprint around my work truck for five minutes before the homeowner came out and took the dog back over to the neighbor's house. If I would have had a gun or a bat or any long metal object outside of the ladder on top of the truck, I would have beat that dog senseless. I laughed afterwards because I felt like a little baby, but I feared for my safety and that made me react like that. If I were you, I'd definitely keep a gun handy, secure your fence, possibly take metal links and create some sort of electrified fencing. Be sure to keep your dogs a safe distance from the fence as you wouldn't want them to be hurt. But I'd definitely seek some other form of debilitating methods outside of death for the dogs, something to injure or maim them and make them realize they fucked with the wrong alpha dog.

That's just me.

Just kill them man. You shouldn't have to spend time or money dealing with someone elses dumb dogs.

Just "accidentally" leave some left over meat scraps or chicken bones in the middle of your yard, put your dogs inside, and get a lawn chair and twleve gauge and wait. You shouldn't have any trouble shooting all of them assuming your yard is a decent size. They will die on your property, you were scared for your personal safety. Simple.

You've been given suggestions and I can tell you that way more than likely your city DOES have an ordinance on keeping a dog on a leash or locked in the yard. These days all cities, large and small, have those types of ordinances. You'll just have to do some research. As far as anti freeze goes, it's an absolutely horrible way to die for an animal, they don't just die right away, it's not fair to them, imagine if your dogs got out and found the bowl you layed out for them, you'd watch them die a slow agonizing death. Keep in mind, as vicious as these dogs are, you have to remember, they are dogs, it's the owners who are ultimately at fault. If you're gonna kill the dogs, use a gun and make it quick, but you also ought to take those owners to court, sue them, make their lives miserable but be realistic, you should probably expect retaliation. Keep your dogs inside, watch yourself and your house. But I'm telling you, there ARE ordinances.....go to your municipal court, they can tell you. When you find the violation file police report upon police report, file charge after charge. I can tell you when I was a cop, and I kept getting call after call from the same people in my beat with the same problems, you can be damn sure I'd find a way to resolve the problem, because they had better things to do than call me and I had better things to do than to spend my shift answering the same call over and over again.

SOme rat poison do work pretty well on dogs. Just get some and do it. No moral dilemna. It's a damn dog.....

Please no macho one line responses saying "id cook the fukers and eat them," or "shoot all three of them."

Alright Bro, I first want to say that I am not intending to fit into the aforementioned category with the advice I'm about to give you. Second... I've been a PO in Canada for 9 years and I've dealt with similar situations numerous times.

You make sure that EVERY time your dogs are in your yard 1.) The female is accompanied by the male. 2.) You have a 12ga pump action shotgun in your residence. If this happens again, fuck the pipe bro, you walk up to the pitbull and destroy it(use slugs).

Now... you live in Texas. By Canadian standards, Texas isn't even considered a civilized society... mostly because of their death penalty statistics and their "open carry" gun laws. The reason I'm telling you this is because, in Canada, you would be encouraged to do the same as I advised you to do... and you would have done nothing immoral or illegal in doing so. If you can get away with that in Canada, you can damn well get away with it in Texas.

Unless I'm unaware of any other dynamics of the situation, I think that's the way you should solve the problem. Your neighbours dogs have done more than enough to justify such action, morally and legally.

Ok well thanks to Scotty after reading his response I now know that you live in Texas, as do I, and I was a Texas cop for almost six years. So here's the deal on using deadly force. Deadly force can be used to protect yourself or a third person, as well as your property from theft during nighttime hours only. Now, it's easy to convince anyone that you feared for your life as the pitbulls were attempting to attack you as well as your dogs. However, if you decide to poison the animals, just by laying out some type of poison, you subject yourself to a violation of Animal Cruelty laws, which would also depend on whether the police and the D.A. wish to pursue any charges concerning that. If I knew where you were in Texas in relation to Houston and it's surrounding areas I could be of help to you in regards to ordinances and I'm telling you, there are ordinances in effect for Dogs at Large, or whatnot.

One other thing, and this is directed to Scotty Two Hotty, Texas doesn't have "open carry" laws. Sorry....lol...we don't walk around with six shooters on our hips for all to see and tumbleweeds don't blow across the land. We have a Concealed Carry license, and not everyone can get them, nor does everyone try to obtain a CCHL (concealed carry handgun license).

Oh yeah, last thing, Animal Cruelty in Texas is merely a Class A Misdemeanor, which is punishable by a year in jail and/or a fine. That's FYI on poisoning the animals and potentially being charged for that.

Bro I am not in your shoes but if you are in a residential area the threat of discharging a firearm is a dangerous as the dogs, all this macho shoot em will get someone hurt or killed and you in jail whether they hurt someone or not. Unless you are an experienced shooter you are going to get a huge adrenaline rush which will not help your aim and increase the chance of multiple shots having to be fired. If you decide to use a gun do not use a large caliber weapon and certainly not a pistol. If it was a dire circumstance I would use a .410 shot gun with #5 shot or a .22 rifle with subsonic rounds due to their lack of penatration and richochet velocity on contact with a solid surface. They WILL go through a fence slat so don't expect it to stop there. Anti freeze causes crystals to form in the liver causing it to shut down, it can take 3 days of torture to die if the dog ingests enough otherwise it will live. Rat poison (strychnine) will do it faster but is easily threated with charcoal at the vet upon first symptoms. If your caught it is a felony where I am from. I am not some animal rights freak There are better ways to handle it in my opinion. But it is up to you desperate time deserve desperate measures. Good luck.

LOL:FRlol: Sorry Bro. I sounded pretty ignorant back there. Well, I guess I was ignorant for presuming the open carry bit. I have a friend who's employed as a PO on the border of Texas/Mexico... he reported that Texas and Arizona are "open carry" States.

This may sound sick, but crush up some glass in a bag of some sort and put it into some ground beef. Leave it in your yard near the gate. If the dogs get into your yard again then its too bad for them.

P.S. - dont let your dogs eat it though :)

First let me say that i love ceebs. What a nice person. Second bro i really feel for you. That is quite a dilemma. Pitbulls get a bad reputation though too. They are naturally aggressive just from people breeding them for fighting in the past. People who buy them are usually a certain type of person and they want them because everyone knows they are tough. My friend has one and he brought it up nicely and its one of my favorite dogs. I think the only thing you can do morally is keep complaining. Someone will step up and help you out. There was also a good sugestion that you tape it. If this happens often i would try that too. Good luck.
