It's not a question of whether anyone here understands business ethics or practices. It's more a matter of perception of what EF is.
EF is a valuable resource and font of information for our hobby. Being on the Internet and driven by member contributions and discussion, there's an expectation by some of EF being here solely for the members' benefits. This isn't surprising when one considers how much a part of the free time of many members EF tends to become. It is easy to forget that, unlike some flagging boards that are run as hobbies, EF is run as a money-making venture. EF is a business and, while we are all here to learn, teach, entertain and be entertained, EF's primary function is to turn a profit.
We can remember in fond absence many ex-members who lost sight of that balance between the functions of EF.
