I have been cutting my carbs to 50-75 g a day for 5-out of 7 days of the week....i refeed with carbs on Thursday and Sunday (my days off from the gym)....unfortunately, my strength is absolutely in the toliet.....i can't seem to move any real weight when cutting carbs.....this has always been the case with me.....is this normal? is there anything i can do to keep my strength?

Oh yeah, my cals are 2000 for the on days, and 4000 roughly for the 2 refeed days.

HELP!

Theres other ways to lose fat than the keto diet. If you were to juice and take some thermo's, I presume you would not lose any strength, maybe gain some, while still losing fat.

If I skip one workout, it totally fucks me up. I tried a keto diet for 1-2 days awhile back and had HORRIBLE workouts. I remember doing back, and I couldn't even lift the bar up to do bent over rows! Even if I felt able then next week, I didn't want to continue that. I'm natural, and I'd rather use DNP or some other drugs, than go on a keto diet.

It could be that your body just takes an extra day or so to get into ketosis, which is going to be difficult with your carbs that high. For me, it was a great leap of faith, but I gave in and did keto the right way and dropped my carbs below 20g per day and jacked the fat way up...I'm talking 50% - 60% of my calories. It took me 1.5 days to get into ketosis and my strength actually went up! If "low carb" isn't working, I suggest you give this a try, because at 50g - 75g of carbs daily, your body isn't even close to usind the fats as efficiently as it could. Remember, not everyone gets into ketosis at the same rate. Do like I did and you just might find yourself looking forward to that next keto cycle!

I second the remarks above, that 75g of carbs a day is too much to acheive maximum befenicial ketosis.

In fact, I suspect 75g of carbs a day would be just enough to keep insulin production going so that you'd feel like sh*t. Your body would still be trying to favor carbs, and looking for more, instead of burning all ketones.

I'm not a doctor or an expert of any type, this is just my experience. Cut the carbs to 20g or less per day, with no more than 3-5g per meal. Do that for a week, then at least you'll be able to judge what real ketosis feels like.
