Next generation Ford Mustang concept pics

DAMN! This looks hard as hell. This will most likely be the next generation of stangs. Ford finally got their act together it looks like. I haven't big too big of a fan of Mustang bodystyles since the 87-93 generation, despite owning a '94 GT. The 87-93 generation was the last time that Mustangs actually looked hard as opposed to the gay rounded off shit they went to with the SN-95s. The boxier version(99-present) was better, but still not what I thought Mustang deserved.

looks sweet. Hopefully they put a ballsy engine in that thing. Anything under 275 hp should not be called a sports car in my opinion. That engine looks like it would be real fun to work on though :(

If that isn't retro, i don't know what is. I like all the mustangs from past to present. I own a '90 GT that runs 12's.

lookin' good, but not as good as the '66 stang i have parked in my garage!!!!!!!!:p

i like that rear...front look good but i would like to see a more modern (ferrari 360) look in the front

the mustangs shown in those pics have 400hp 4.6 liters in them, 390lb/ft torque. i think it's probably the same engine they are putting in the supercharged cobras. regardless, i think the days of msutangs getting their asses spanked are over.

The designer said that he took his ideas from the 67 mustang and if you look close you can see the similarities. It is still a sharp car.:)

that nissan is sharp

I rolled up on one of the 350 Z Sport package machines...

LIKE WHOA!

18" rims, low-pro tires, dual chrome tipped exhaust, jet black with silver door handles, and a loser behind the wheel. It just aint fair sometimes.

I like the fox bodied stangs, but you have to lose the waffle wheels. I have chrome cobra R's on my '90GT.

i like it!

i have a '00 v6 stang, and i must say, it's pretty weak. it is suitable for the price bracket, i suppose, but foreign cars i have had (for example a '00 hyundai tiburon) had so much better shifting (the automatics)
the stang is just very sluggish, i love it because it suits its purpose as a reliable car for me through college, but other than that i dont think very highly of it.

its totally stock, i could make it handle better, etc, but its so not worth the money to me.

my mom just got a infiniti g35, now that is badass
i also like the nissan 350z cars *drool*

They just tried too too hard to get a retro look. They overdid it.

Christ, the interior looks like a ghettoed out Civic!

Why must Ford ruin everything ... (not that Mustangs are sharp to begin with; with the exception of 64-70. After '70, everything went downhill)

For the real mustang enthusiasts, the similarities between the 67 Shelby Cobra and this car are unmistakable. See?

and it also has a lot of 68 influence as well, such as the nostrils being pushed forward.

I'm not fond of the interior, though, I doubt it'll make it to production. It should be more traditional.

Notice the roll bar?! I love that they used that element. The new concept needs stripes, baby.

By who though? Riceboys were never really a match because half those cars weren't in the same class to begin with. The only real competition in the last ten years in terms of affordable muscle cars were the Camaro/Firebird...which are now gone.

Stangs are trying hard to go after the vette, but its a totally different market. Vettes dont have the glory they used to and the average vette owner is not out to race his car at every stop light. Nissan and Mazda have/will have nice cars coming out, but racing those gets boring quick:o .Especially when the Stang has 100+ more RWDHP.

Pontiac has a muscle luxury GTO coming out soon but it will probably be as pussy as the new Impalas/MC's. There is talk of bringing back the Firebird but I think it will end up being a FWD hopped up sunfire.

The main thing that kills these muscle cars though is insurance. The prices of a mustang are pushing 30,000 where a firebird was close to 40 for the high end model. Ford and GM are alienating their strongest market by keeping the prices high. Id rather them offer a stripped down version in the teens to be more competitive with civics etc. Nobody really cares about the nice luxury crap..If you want that get a lexus, not a muscle car.

I couldn't agree more. That crazy interior definitely would NOT keep costs down. From the looks at it, the stang doesn't seem very expensive, save for the sick ass engine the stuffed in there. I wish Ford would bother just making a bigger engine instead of popping a supercharger on the 4.6. That car should definitely not exceed 30G's, though...

I'm not sure but I think they might have to follow some sort of EPA requirements or something.

There are some NA 2.0 liters that can spank a 4.6L's ass. The saying "no replacement for displacement" doesnt hold true anymore.

Anyone hear about the new Acura NSX? I hear it is going to be similiar to a hybrid with close to 400HP.

That is such rubbish. The Viper, Vette, and Stang are all testimonials as to the superiority of the V8 over smaller engines. If you're speaking of size of the V8's then you're right, but I would still opt for a naturally aspirated V8. Hell, if GM can do it, I don't see why Ford can't.

exactly what I was thinking...

me likee the ass, but the rack needs a little work..

It does resemble the 68 GT front and rear, but something about the front end turns me off, same look but a little more sleek, maybe..

but....

If it is released with 400 horses, they will sell....

68GT....thats just a preference for people these days. Larger engines are way easier to work on IMO. But kids today think civics are they way to get around.

I like it! My favorite era was the 87-93 model(had 2 of em) I also had a 94 cobra. Looks like I might just have to check that out.

Anyone know when or how much?

Early generation Mustangs were sleak and sexy. This pile of crap looks sort of like a first gen, bloated from steroids.

I would like to see one up close though. Perhaps there will be one at the Philly Auto Show.

I do not think I've ever seen a concept car I've liked..This 'Tang is NO exception.

Heading to Motor City to see alllll the car's too. Hubby will drool over the cars and I'll pretend I'm interested.:)

It looks ok. Nothing fancy. Everything old is new again huh?

Fuck No! I would love to have a nice american sporty car that looks good! Personally, if you have a civic you should have got rice painted on the side.

i think it is a beautiful car, the interior is a little flashy, but i think i could live with it! this might be one i'd consider buying. we had 2 90 model mustangs but sold em a couple years ago, i'm due for another sports car! :)

just proves the 2generation Eclipse will go down as one of the best car bodies in recent automotive history.

for everyone freaking out about the interior...remember this is a concept car. there's no way in hell they're going to keep the interior the way it looks in those pics. compare, for example, the concept interior of the 350z to what production ended up looking like. it was like night and day.
i'm not worried about the interior so much as i am what the exterior of the LX(non GT) will look like. this mustang pictured here has 20 inch rims and some dual exhaust. it's hard to picture that bodystyle looking good sitting on 16" wheels and a single, little banana pipe sticking out of the back left side.

My mom had a 68 Shelby convertable GT500, it had a 428 that would spank any civics ass like the piece of shit wiggers drive. I fucking loved that car and my dumbass mom sold it in 82. It was dark green with the tan leather interior.:bawling:

to the people that are complaining just remember that this is only at the conceptual stage, it will be refined. i think it looks good and will probably look better. whoever said that the days of stangs getting beat on the road are over is right. that new supercharged cobra is 35K, looks good, and with just a mod or two it will beat a overpriced z06.

cheverolet needs to regroup.

I have a 2002 GT laser red with 4.10's, shifter and headers. I am on my way to 500 hp! Love the new look.

I can't wait to see the new Dodge Charger/Challenger with the Hemi, maybe even a Baracudda!

Try on the 189-1995 Lotus' 2.3 I-4 turbo at near 300 HP. Those cars spank and continue to spank any V8 coming out of Detroit. Of course a curb weight of under 3000lbs doesn't hurt:D

Slap some forced induction on a V8 and then we'll talk. Thank you.
