who will be the political mods? should it be 'fair and balanced'?

No need for specific Mods for that section, the Chat Mods will work that forum too.

As long as people are respectful to each other, they can talk about their political differences all they want. We don't push any political agenda here or promote any of the candidates. All of the political content here is generated by the users.

word.

as for changes, though...can you make it so that ONLY the admins can ban people. it is always the same person banning people based on their whims.

i believe (as do most people around here lately) that the only people who should have the authority to ban is you, ef frank, and george. there is no reason why a moderator should be capable of banning people, especially paying members, from this site. there has yet to be an instance of someone needing to be banned in such a small amount of time that one of the admins could not do it (ie spamming/flooding/etc).

the amount of controversy, hurt feelings, and traffic lost to this site that could be avoided would be staggering if you simply implemented this strategy.

The Mods need to be able to get rid of spammers quickly and easily without having to wait for an Admin...
As far as the issues with the members go.
I guess when the members stop getting a thrill out of pushing the Mod's buttons, maybe then we won't need to give them banning powers. As long as some members (usually the same people) get a kick out of making veiled insults and pushing the buttons of the guys who volunteer their time here, we need to give them a tool to correct that behavior.

Ok guys... Locked till later. I have to step away for a couple of hours.

i understand what you're saying, but:
1. i ban someone at least once a day. often more. usually it's spammers, but sometimes it's someone who just can NOT follow the rules. So if a member is doing something that's disrupting the entire forum (like filling up the whole first page with their threads or bumping every old thread or telling off a mod for locking something), the mods need to be able to take action.
2. as it is, only elite mods can ban people. that means that someone that rick feels he can trust to use their judgement wisely can do it.

3. admin can't do everything and be here ALL the time. If you feel something was done unfairly, we'll now have the ombudsmen!

Yup. And people will start finding out that the conspiracy theories are a lot more wrong the they would think.

yah for you...
I can be super mod I am fair and have no favs here...I just want to ban everyone, then yell like trump "your fired" while doing it!

No really though on a serious note here, good decision guys and ladies. I think it is true that newbies don't want to join and see the sludge that is often posted. Especially if they are joining for more than just chat and convo.

Good luck moderators and adminsters
