New Bike!

I found a deal on Ebay I couldn't pass up so I'm building a new bike. Flyte was clearing out their 2006 frame stock to make room for their 2007 models. I got a brand new aluminum frame, handlebars, stem and seatpost for $150 with shipping; then I bought a carbon fiber fork to go with it.
I'll be taking the other parts from my current bike for now then probably get a 10-speed Ultegra grouppo for it in December. I was going to turn my current bike into a dedicated TT bike but now I'll think I'll sell it and get a track bike instead. I watched Track Nationals last weekend so i'm leaning toward that now instead of tri.

This is NOT my bike but this is pretty much what it will look like when it's done; the frame is exact but I have Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels. It will probably be around 18 lbs when it's done which is as light as I'd want to go at my size. I could knock another lb off with a new saddle and lighter wheels but I'd rather have the durability.

I've already nick-named her Gymgurl since it'd be fun to ride either one. :p

You are better off with Campagnolo's Daytona groupo.
That would involve building/buying two new sets of wheels which ain't happenin. Besides, if it ain't broke, don't fix it and Shimano ain't broke.

Alright, here are a few pics of my build. I have an Easton EC70 seatpost coming next week along with carbon cages. I will probably end up cutting the fork to 10-15mm of stack height.

8-speed Dura-Ace with Mavic Ksyrium Elites, Vredestein Fortezza SE tires.

To finish off the black & blue color scheme (my favorite) I picked up these shoes online for $100. :D

You don't need two new sets of wheels. That's rediculous.

And shimano is lame.

Almost all serious cyclists have separate wheels for training and racing or time trials. Only a moron would train on a $1,800 set of Zipp 404's. I have a training set with a higher spoke count for durability and I'm getting some Rolfs or Campy Eurus for aerodynamics. I can't expect to get 15,000 miles out of fragile carbon wheels at my size.

I changed my seatpost and cut the fork down some more. Let's go for a ride, GG. I'll even let you lead so I can watch your ass cheeks go. woot! :p
