Thanks again for hosting my stuff bro
The clip is me deadlifting 500lbs for 9 reps, no belt or straps. I think I could have hit 1 or 2 more reps but oh well...

Great job!

Where are all the Yuppies you speak of?

It's Sunday, they were all at home drinking beer and watching football, it was hard to even find someone to tape it for me

awesome job. i wonder if i could start deadlifting again, starting light and working up to where i was pre-injury

Go for it, I actually blew out my back so bad before I couldnt deadlift or squat for almost a year, I just took it slow and am doing okay now

what would you reccomend for sets/reps/weight and xper week, etc?

nclifter6feet6 said:
thats too much weight man. you might bend the bar

The 600lbs I pulled a little while ago did actually bend the bar a bit

jeremys, I would stick with sets of 5 reps, much easier to maintain form and stay away from injuries that way. Start with a weight that is a joke, and just keep adding 5lbs per week. You'll keep strengthening your back but should be able to focus on form well enough that you'll stay injury free, and the weight will add up in no time

It looked like you started rounding your back near the end, but anyway great lift, I cant wait till you get 15 like B Fold did.

HOLY SHIT! Tell us the truth.....You passed out after that didn't you? J/K Does any one else have some motivational clips? Tomorrow I declare war! Me against the gym! :redhot:

Thanks, but I dont think I'll ever attempt to catch B Fold, i hate high rep compound exercises, I normally do sets of 5. I was actually up to 5 reps on 550lbs, but my sciatic nerve started acting up so I dropped the weight. My next goal is to hit 600lbs for a set of 5

Actually, I did another set of 8 after that, then pulldowns, shrugs, rows, etc, back/shoulder day is a long workout

Great lift bro. Make sure you have a large SHIT before you attempt that. hehehe.

I don't see how you do shoulders after all the back work. I have trouble finishing my back after doing deads, I couldnt imagine doing shoulders after words. Where do you find the energy? Back and legs are the two groups I have do on there own.

jeremys said:
hey do you compete or no?

Not as a powerlifter no, although I think I could, I'm actually aiming to do a bodybuilding show next year

Actually I start with shoulders. I do heavy military press while warming up for deads, then superset the deads with side laterals. After that I go on and smoke the rest of my back. It was a little tough to get used to, but I get much better results training this way as there is no overlap, back/shoulders get a full week to recover

Madmatt, you're right, its only once a week, but then I train everything 1x per week

thats cool..you def. should try a powerlifting comp. they're fun as hell..

im thinking about doing westside again, if its possible to put on as much mass doing that as it is with any BB program. it would be freaking awesome to eventually compete as a PL and then diet and do a comp or two a year.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Some time this winter I might enter one locally. I dont expect to win, but I figure it would make an impression to go in with nothing other than some chalk, no suits, bench shirts, wraps, or belts, and still place with the boys using all the apparatus

show em up and do it raw the way it SHOULD be done

ya bastard! that would be great!

jesus 2 can't wait to dl 405! (yes, just for 1 rep :( )

if you show up at a comp and do everything raw, you'd get your ass handed to you, and you could be risking injury not using some gear. unless, or course, its a raw competition

Heck of a job man. I think that you could have got a couple more and being barefoot or wearing Chucks would help a lot too.

Yes...it is not smart to compete where others are wearing equipment and you are not. If you don't want to compete...then don't. If you do want to COMPETE...then COMPETE.

Thanks B and spatts.
B, I was hoping to duplicate the video you posted but it just wasnt there today, close enough for me though

Spatts, funny you say that, I looked at the video and my first thought was that i looked fat and couldnt see any definition in my tris, I wanted to change the lighting and try again....Bodybuilders dont see things the way the rest of the world does though...your comment did make my night

You remind me of the old BBers that don't draw a line between strong and chiseled. Looks like you've mastered the art of form and function.

dayamn GEENA!! another awesome lift. are those the plastic octagon plates? I hate those things when I deadlift, clean, or do any exercise that requires me to bring the weight back down to the floor, since the plates on the sides are usually not on the flat and tend to roll over on the flats, which sucks if you want to readjust your grip.

once again, SICK ass lift, NS

Thanks, that's actually quite a compliment as I pattern my training and physique goals after the old school bodybuilders, especially the ones that used to be powerlifters, ie Franco, other than being shorter than me his physique and strength were exactly what I want

Champ, you're right, those plates suck some serious ass, they roll to the flat spot on every rep, makes it quite an adventure. The worst though is squatting, my biggest reward for squatting over 4plates was supposed to be the sound of them crashing together on every rep, and I'm completely robbed of that now...

"I was actually up to 5 reps on 550lbs, but my sciatic nerve started acting up so I dropped the weight. My next goal is to hit 600lbs for a set of 5"

When your sciatic acts up What do you do to heal it? I don`t squat or deadlift anymore from that. I just started deadlifting a few months ago and I love it and was doing very well until it all came crashing down. ALOT OF PAIN got any pointers? thanks

DAMN impressive, especially with no equipment on...with a belt on I pull 405 for 7 or 8 reps, so a lift like that raw is pure motivation to me...keep em comin

dieting might put you in a lower weight class for powerlifting too

bump, motivation inside:)

that was great to watch, thanks for posting the clip.

Impressive in many ways...raw, the weght, reps, and you kept you form all the way through. Good stuff for us newbies to learn from...

best of luck

Sean

Needsize,
You are so bloody inspiring...
Maybe in umm.... 5 years... I will pull even close to that...

holy shit man your doing good, last time i saw you dead you were around 450 right?

your a animal keep it up

Damn!! That looked pretty easy!! I bet your max is around 635lbs.

I have a friend who is a powerlifter who weighs 217lbs and has deadlifted 655lbs in competition. Those high reps would kill him!!

Keep up the good work! Your videos help remind people how important it is to perform squats and deadlifts in a training routine.

What amazes me most is the lack of belt or wrist straps. You have done yourself good.

Oak, I was doing 455lbs for sets of 5 last time you saw me, I've gone as high as 550lbs for 5, this higher rep thing was just for fun

Thanks Joker

Louden, it did actually feel pretty easy, I pussied out too as I'm sure I could have gone for 1 or 2 more. I've pulled a 600 raw with no belt or straps, could probably do more, I just dont like singel maxes, they kinda scare me. I dont use the belt or straps as I'm a bodybuilder, they wouldnt do me any good, plus now I've got huge forearms that I never really had to work for. I've really pushed the heavy squats and deads in the last year, and the difference in my physique is night and day now, for me, thats what its all about!!

AWESOME LIFT! And keep sharing those incredible lifts with us.
They are a powerful motivational tool that will help all of us in our training.

the BEST part of this clip to ME is that is shows you dont have to be an attention seeking JERK in the gym, dropping the weight with no control so everyone can see how strong you are. That and no belt. Super lift NS!

My proudest deadlift was a 365 for 20 where I was frothing at the mouth...would like to do 405 someday

thanks bro, I get enough attention in the gym just training that heavy in a place full of yuppies, no need to throw stuff around. Plus, I was taught by some pretty hardcore types, and proper gym behaviour is something deeply ingrained as a result...

365 for 20 is pretty impressive, but I think it would kill me. I dont like high rep compound movements, so the 9 reps I did on the 500 was out of the ordinary,I normally stick with 5's. A set of 20 on any weight would drop me....

what's a sciatic nerve?

where are you now needsize?

The sciatic is a big ass nerve that run through your ass and down the back of your leg

As for my deads, I was up to 550 for 5, I backed off a bit to give my body a break and am now back to 525lbs for 5's. I'm making a run for 5 reps on 600 now

Looks like your back is too flat at the bottom?

You are obviously strong as hell....

Great job witht he weight, but I am wondering about your form. Would it be better if your back was more upright, and your glutes lower at the bottom?

THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKIN ABOUT BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
