right in the center of the forearm - palm facing up - right where it got strangled for a plit second
It sounds to me like you may have some venous damage. If that is the case taking diuretics or anti-inflamatories like aleive or ibuprofen wont help much. although they might help some especially combined. Try this, cold pack 15 minutes (no longer as it can start causing tissue damage). 5 minutes off. Then moist heat 20 minutes. then let rest for the rest of the hour. then repeat. also take two caffeine (works as a vasoconstricter) and 5000 mg vit. c. Both of these together will help pull off some of the fluid. Ibuprofen 800-1000 mg, this is an anti-inflamatory dose. No nore often than every 6 hours. Let me know how this works for you.

can a blood clot be caused by a quick strangle to the forearm?

Prolly not a clot. What can happen in this kind of situation to form a clot is that you'll get a hematoma (fancy word for a bruise). That big-ass bruise means the blood is pooling, and it might clot as it sits there. Then when it does drain you can have the clot travel to bad places...that's why it's important to ice the fuck out of the injury early, keep the aleve going, and encourage circulation to return after a couple days.

The good news is (as I found out too late to help me) that if you do end up with a large hematoma, they can drain it pretty painlessly via laser surgery.

On another note: Hopefully, your actions/appearance/demeanor will turn the situation around in the kid's mind, and he might be inspired to lift rather than be afraid. Good thing you were there.

bro what

colour is it
is it hot
s it sore
can you still do everything with it

- if it is red and hot then id be a little concerned these are the signs of thrombosis- clot
- if it isnt particularly hor but the other symptoms abovea re mention likjely it is a heamatoma, bsiaclly from trauma blood vessels burst and blood collects in area. can resolve naturally take some time or can drain

other diagnosis

1. torn forearm unlkely if have function
2. sprained elbow or wrist agin unoikely if you still have function
3. rope burn possible anything on the skin any blmishes marks etc

but see a doctor dude- if i were you i know it is a forear but still request a d-dimer test test fro a clot very abvisable just to rule it out. it is a heamatoma depending on size draininage/ leave it id always oft fr no intervention and review and wait and seee. tis your and the docs call

just an update - I woke up this morning and the swelling is down about 60%.
Skins not as tight, due to the fluid loss.
Funny thing is - I can actually feel the injury a little more now that the fluid is not there as much

Rest, ice, and anti inflams-keep doing what you're doing. Spend the week hitting legs, calves, and abs.

I'll keep this short

I was at the gym 2 days ago, and I was alone in the weight room, when I heard this small voice whimpering. I look over at the lat-stack and there's a kid with the tip of his fingers stuck between two of the lower plates (don't ask how)
I wasn't thinking and I just grabbed the cable above the stack, gave it a quick wrap around my forearm and yanked the stack off the kids finger.
I think "he's" OK.

But ME..............

yesterday I had a good sized rasberry - rope burn type contusion on inside of my forearm (palm facing up). It hurt pretty good, but nothin out of the ordinary.

I wake up today and my forarm is swollen (it appears with fluid) from about an inch from my elbow up to my swollen wrist. It you looked at me you wouldn't notice it - it's not a balloon. but it looks and responds to a finger-push like really swollen ankles.

I have full use of my lower arm, no strangth loss, and the only soreness is the "pressure" from the swelling.
Also - it's warm and pink.

I've iced it - doesn't do much - (feels nice) - but that's it

Anyone ever heard of ANYTHING like this?

That's why you should always aspirate bro...

j/k. I don't think that could be something too bad...maybe was just a tendon and that's going to improve within a few days.,..good luck bro!
