need help guys - seriously

I'll keep this short

I was at the gym 2 days ago, and I was alone in the weight room, when I heard this small voice whimpering. I look over at the lat-stack and there's a kid with the tip of his fingers stuck between two of the lower plates (don't ask how)
I wasn't thinking and I just grabbed the cable above the stack, gave it a quick wrap around my forearm and yanked the stack off the kids finger.
I think "he's" OK.

But ME..............

yesterday I had a good sized rasberry - rope burn type contusion on inside of my forearm (palm facing up). It hurt pretty good, but nothin out of the ordinary.

I wake up today and my forarm is swollen (it appears with fluid) from about an inch from my elbow up to my swollen wrist. It you looked at me you wouldn't notice it - it's not a balloon. but it looks and responds to a finger-push like really swollen ankles.

I have full use of my lower arm, no strangth loss, and the only soreness is the "pressure" from the swelling.
Also - it's warm and pink.

I've iced it - doesn't do much - (feels nice) - but that's it

Anyone ever heard of ANYTHING like this?
does the swollen area stay pitted after removing your fingers from pressing on it. if so how many seconds? also is it hot to the touch?

OH, and most importantly: good on ya for helping out a youngun in need. Glad that you were there to lend the assist.

took my breath away - he wasn't a lifter - he was about 5yrs old - had wandered in from the pool area.

the pin on the stack must have been caught in the between spot where the stack doesn't come all the way back down - and he must have knocked it loose.

He'll probably never go near a weight again

Try some Aleve to reduce the swelling (along with ice) . K to you for saving the kid-I just hope his parents don't try to sue you now. After reading the story a few year back about the guy that got sued for pulling someone from a car crash just seconds before it blew up I wouldn't have been too quick to help. I probably wouldv'e had one of the gym employees do it.

Some states have good samaritan laws to protect you from BS like that. That way of you pull a weight off someone's hand, adminster first aid that you have been trained for such as CPR, etc you will be OK. Check the laws in your state - someone might need your help one day or vice-versa.

1/2 way down my forearm - all the way to my wrist - if I push - it stays pitted for about 30 seconds.

It is warm to the touch

go see a f-ing doctor... the pink and warm part of your description is something to worry about that COULD indicate infection

it's only warm when the swelling was bad -earlier.

It's barely warm now after the Aleve

Shit dude-I feel like an asshole now. When you said kid I automatically thought 16 yrs old, not some 1st grader. I would've helped the kid too no matter what-but I probably would regret the broken hand/assault charge/ lawsuit I got from punching his irresponsible parent in the face.

PLEASE - let the legal part of this post go - i don't worry about stuff like that.

If you spend your whole life, looking behind you - covering your ass - how will you ever see where you are going?
