I'll keep this short

I was at the gym 2 days ago, and I was alone in the weight room, when I heard this small voice whimpering. I look over at the lat-stack and there's a kid with the tip of his fingers stuck between two of the lower plates (don't ask how)
I wasn't thinking and I just grabbed the cable above the stack, gave it a quick wrap around my forearm and yanked the stack off the kids finger.
I think "he's" OK.

But ME..............

yesterday I had a good sized rasberry - rope burn type contusion on inside of my forearm (palm facing up). It hurt pretty good, but nothin out of the ordinary.

I wake up today and my forarm is swollen (it appears with fluid) from about an inch from my elbow up to my swollen wrist. It you looked at me you wouldn't notice it - it's not a balloon. but it looks and responds to a finger-push like really swollen ankles.

I have full use of my lower arm, no strangth loss, and the only soreness is the "pressure" from the swelling.
Also - it's warm and pink.

I've iced it - doesn't do much - (feels nice) - but that's it

Anyone ever heard of ANYTHING like this?

You probably did something to your arm when helping the kid. I can't say exactly what it is, unless I see it in front of me - even then it's a semi-guess.

I suggest you see the doctor, just to be safe. Explain the situation to him and have him suggest a course of action.

Fuk

Thanks for the quick reply "X"

The only I could compare it to is a swollen ankle - The same kind of fluid swelling.

And I'm sure typing, playing around with it, and not keeping it elevated is causing all the fluid to amass in my wrist.

I just wanna go to the gym - I feel like I'm "slacking"

Try some Aleve to reduce the swelling (along with ice) . K to you for saving the kid-I just hope his parents don't try to sue you now. After reading the story a few year back about the guy that got sued for pulling someone from a car crash just seconds before it blew up I wouldn't have been too quick to help. I probably wouldv'e had one of the gym employees do it.

BigCracker had some good short-term suggestions, ice and Aleve. However, I highly suggest you at least see a doctor to have it checked.

Are you the ONLY person that could side-track my help thread into a legal - "wouldn't have helped" thread..............LOL

thanks for the advice though.

Why Aleve? is it better at reducing swelling than any other OTC similar Med?

naproxen (aleve) is a superior anti-inflamatory.

sounds like a sprain of some sort. dullboy is considering changing his elite name to captain obvious.

I am going to go to the Doctor tomorrow if it isn't better, but I am going to try Aleve now.

I probably still have all my strength, cause the sprin is inside the forearm and not on a "joint".

I just don't want to go to the gym - start curling, and squirt someone in the eye with a mix of salene and blood when my arm burst open.

I love em' though

Yeah mainline it in the neck. lol Sorry about the legality issues, but I hate curve balls in life. Years ago when I was younger and more naive I would've helped the kid without a second thought. However, as I've grown older I've noticed that in the litigous society we live in today the nice guy often finishes last. :mix:
