My daughter just took a test at Kindergarten registration. She scored a 200 out of a possible 205. Holy shit, I think she's officially smarter than me. ha jk I think.

The person giving the test was really impressed and told us she should go to an accelerated program or maybe even skip a grade blah blah. Sorry, I'm just a proud parent blabbering.. I don't have personal experience with 'gifted programs' I just wanted to share.

I received 2 letters home this year from the teacher because he was giving answers to tests. lol I guess he was finishing early and then whispering answers to the others.

...I think his biggest problem will be facing bullies. There's not a mean bone in his body, and he's been picked on a few times by other boys. As a parent, I want to step in so badly and kick some ass, but I know I can't. He has to face this stuff on his own and learn how to handle it.

if you can subtly get him to throw a punch or two at that age where they cant do any real dammage to eachother, it will be better for him in the long run.

im not talking about being violent towards others all the time, but if they even shove him or pour or put anything on him, any physical contact, strike back.

I hesitate to do this because at his age, he doesn't understand "subtle". lol ...and I don't think we're ready for that lesson, yet. (the bullying isn't quite at that level yet, either. It's more along the lines of taking his lunch or calling him names right now.)

He'll get some more opportunities to excel. Make sure he takes advantage of them.

Just an FYI, be careful having your daughter tested in Kinder. Kids can only test twice in elementary school. Usually GATE or TAG programs don't start that early.
