My Smith Squating is On Point

i won't even grace the smith machine with holding my belt.
my belt is too good for that.

omega, do you use it to do curls too? :)

no are you?

not really.
but i've never heard of anyone solely relying on smith squats,
except for fatties and weak noobs, of which i don't think you are neither.
even my old high school football coach frowned upon smith squats
seems fairly common knowledge

I use the smith for seated military presses sometimes. Especially if I'm going heavy or doing drop sets. I have someone just strip plates for me. Drop sets rock on the smith

I am a bodybuilder not power lifter or any other delusional creature

I lift to look pretty and for maximum muscle density and development.

I Leg Press for mass and And Smith for Burnout and additonal cuts and striations.

btw this guy did Leg Presses first followed by Smith Squats:

So whats wrong with using the smith to squat?? I use it all the time. I dont have a power cage or a spotter, so the smith is my only option

Everyone on here is way too advanced to use a smith machine, hell it is for pussy's.
Most members take up all their gym's 45's when they reverse curl here.
You must be new.

My knees hurt all day everyday. It takes almost a full half hour to get my knees warmed up enough so I can squat. My max is over 550 but the heaviest set I go is 315 x 10 reps now. It's just too painfull to go heavier.

I never go above 225 nowadays. . .

Can you do Zercher squats in a smith machine?

:cow:
You love being the oddball powerlifter in the group of bodybuilders.

On a side note, When I said I don't go heavier than 315 sometimes I will front squat to make it harder. I did 315 for 10 on front squats last tuesday. I have to admit, that shit was really hard.

I used to use the smith for squatting until I became less fearful to squat w/out the "training wheels".
I don't think the smith is terrible....but is not a good tool to reap all the benefits out of a squat that there should be.

nothing wrong with the smith machine, especially if you're lifting alone. i do smith squats when i stagnate on free weight squats.

with my knees, can't squat w/o it. . .allows we to put my feet out front and put the weight on my quads and glutes w/o irritating my kneecaps which are completely devoid of cartilage. . .however, i'd certainly choose to do freestanding if i could. . .nothing gives you core strength like putting big weight on your back and doing deep squats. . .

i resent "oddball" and "powerlifter" being in the same sentence, prettyboy.

I put 90% of the "powerlifters" on EF to shame, raw. Something about wearing a nut-hugging squat suit while 8 other guys stare at your "form" doesn't appeal to me.

*waits for the banana hammock, tanned, and oiled up joke*
