You gotta remember one thing about names ... in elementary school, asses get kicked over names (speaking as one who got teased to shit and back over her name). Boys are bit more prone to it than girls.

You know the variant you're choosing is way more popular as a girl's name? (it goes both ways):

http://www.babynamesworld.com/meaning_of_Devin.html

I'm really traditional when it comes to names, because I did get teased about mine. I would rather have had a normal (common) name instead of one other thing that made me stand out.

But no matter what you do to make your kid fit in, be average/normal/one of the crowd, something always screws that up. Gods know that's what happened with my kid
The chart at the bottom shows it is TONS more popular as a boy's name. ??? That chart shows what the name is ranked for boys and for girls. While it is ranked in the top 59-100 for boys, it has only been ranked in 393-904 for girls. So, it isn't a popular name for girls at all.

I like androgynous names. I've always been drawn to them.

I don't find Devin to be a feminine name. I find it to be a close to "kevin" but more interesting.

I absolutely love the name Devin. For some reason that name popped in my head as soon as I found out he was a boy, and it has stuck with me.

Then, I found out that a very sweet friend of mine has the middle name Devin, which I didn't know about him before. ;)

If he later doesn't like Devin, he can go by alex.
How about Alex, and if he does not like that, he can go by his middle name Devon

I think devin is a beautiful name. I like James Alexander too, but I have a friend named James "Jimmy" who did some bad things since I've been prego and don't want to name him that. John or Jonathan is nice, but my ex hubbie is named John. I don't want to confuse people by naming him after my ex hubbie, whom I divorced 4 years ago...lol.

Whatever rocks your boat. You might be surprised, you might get a look at him and go "Nope, you're not a ___ you're a ____," seriously.

Just as long as you don't name him Lemonjello or Limejello ... :FRlol:

:lmao:

yeah, that could happen. I have already put his name in his baby book though and all the little children's books I bought for him "To Devin, From Mommy." ;)

The infamous jello kids are from right here in Louisville, Ky., by the way. It's a black family who must really have a thing for jello...lol.
