I just put 2+2 together, forgive me if I come out with 5.

But BRR recently revealed that he's been down for the past 6 months, personal issues that have been difficult to deal with.

Well I noticed that before BRR's depression, things here were really poppin'. Remember the K store? How excited people were about it. Remember the bookie forum? Karma poker? All kinds of stuff was really going off around here. Brothabill in da house, Dunk with cell phone pics, spongebob wars, all kinds of stuff. Wootoom and Hotzie having fun with each other everyday. SoKlueless being as clueless as ever. Raina e-boning dudes. foxygen complaining that he can't get the time of day from a chick. yarg smokin weed and banging chicks. goldendelicious breaking hearts evertime he went out on the town. frisky and superqt fighting for the mememememe status. Killahbee frontin'. AAP owning. perkele geighing it up. Gamibino in da mix (before his extended unvoluntary hiatus.) SoreArms in da mix every night! I think admin, BRR specifically, fostered a really fun loving environment around here.

Then came the era of the digger. Coldblue1955 got banned, things slowly began a steady decent to where we are today. we've got youngguns, pick3 and a whole lot of :rainbow: up in this bitch./

this thread makes me feel old, the good old days when i first met Lestat i didnt want to leave my computer, very smart individual Lestat is i think anyway, likes good music always likes to party comes to canada to chill and snowboard and smoke pot, looks like hes always the center of attention (not by choice) someone i would def like to hangout with thats for sure, always speaks his mind thats why hes my fav bro on this site

dunk i wanna talk to you about salt water aquariums. any chance you could PM me your setup. I wanna know stuff like this:

size - glass or acrylic
reef tank or fish only?
any invertabrates?
sump tank?
what heaters did you go with
what power heads or pumps did you go with
filter?
protein skimmer?
lights - be detailed. typed, watts, canopoy, pendant, MH? PC? brand?
what fish?
feeding schedule, what do you feed primarily and how often do you vary it up
water exchange schedule?
what test kits do you have, hydrometer, thermometer, acidity, amonia, nitrate, nitrite?
live rock? what kind? what curing process did you use?
what are you using for substrate?

I know its a lot, but I'm considering making about a $1000 purchase on all this, and thats before any fish or corals.

This place has had its ups and downs for years.

But NOTHING will ever come close to EF Chat in its hey day... back in the beginning before most of the peeps that are up in this bitch even knew about this bitch.

It was bright, intelligent, quirky and LOL funny. Talk about yer quick wit without endless personal attacks and vile and offensive language targeting any group or individual. That shit was just not tolerated around here. We were a community that came to pass time and share laughs, idle banter, exchange information and lend support and e-friendship that often times became real time relationships.

THOSE WERE THE DAYS.

B-MOM is right. Way back when, people were much less easily offended and nobody gave two shits about who was fucking who. I had no clue about any of that shit. Maybe it's cause I grew up a bit and am now more the age that alot of the other members here are, but originally it was a place for two things:

1) Learning.
2) Laughing.

I'd like to see those days come back. I'm not going to lie to you though, you need new blood....or old blood, but some of them I don't think will ever come back. I think a lot of members here make it worth coming back to, but I def think you need the right stimulus. There are a few members here who I remember from a long time agao - and a few new ones - whose threads/posts I am actually really enjoying.
 
lol... sure... in the past i got attention. Now recently... even in the past 8 or so months when have i asked, or begged for attention? Mostly what I discuss is nothing at all pertaining to my body or training... more of my family and my beau. Now how you expect a bitch to get attention when she openly admits she's commited and devoted and in love with a guy and that she is planning to marry and have kids. lol

There is a lot of merit to this post and the replies. The vitality ... the novelty ... is gone. There are still outstanding people, but the wars are over.

- A lot of the great minds and witty people are simply gone. I see a lot of them on other sites.
- Did EF jump the shark? Maybe ..... It can happen to any great program.
- Did policy changes gut this place? I say, Yes.
- Did everyone just get a little older and real life pulled us away? Did for me.

Takes me back to the day that RADAR was taken to task, new Mods installed and K policy changed. Seems that all the fun went away, even though it was always at someone elses expense.

I do believe that this is still a great site and the pendulum may swing the other way. Maybe BB is out there getting a little bored.

I can tell you a bit from what I remember how my husband did the salt water tank.

I think acrylic is better

Reef is beautifull, but takes a lot of work and knowing what corals go together. If you put fish in, you have to know that the fish will grow regardless of how big the tank is - opposite of fresh water fish where they grow acording to the size of the tank.

We used that purple light.

the schedule of Feeding the fish is up to you. Water changes are not as often as with fresh water. 1/3 of the water replaced is enough. Make sure you add salt after that.

Live rock is the best option. It has the nececary bacteria for the water.

All the test kits, filters etc - you can ask at the store. If you are getting a tank bigger than 55 gallon, make sure you get a wet system (I think thats the name - that huge pump under the tank)

I need more specifics though. Purple light tells me nothing, were the power compact flouresants? Metal Halide? etc.

I am going with only 1-2 fish, maybe up to 4, but they will all be 3in or less, smaller when I first get them.

A 1/3 water change is a lot! I will do 10% every week or 20% every two weeks.

I am familiar with a lot of the corals that I will want to get, unfortunately they all have their own feeding nuances, some you just put nutrients in the water, others you have to target feed.

nah i get it. I've seen this type of whining, or "what happened to the good old days" many times now. its the normal eb and flow of the board, the cycles. It was huge when Kronk, citruscide, sofageorge, et al. left. This is even bigger in my opinion, EF pushed the anafit stuff so hard, made their sales people and product developers into elite mods, basically established them as go to people on the boards for everything, now that the business side of it has gone bad the people have to suffer, losing the sponsor and products is no big deal, but the people with sound advice are hard to come by.

For me, when the karma changes went into effect, it all came crashing down. Before that I was on here everyday religiously. Karma gave me a reason to come everyday as silly as it sounds. It caused me to intereact with more people more regularly. I was excited about the karma bookie forum, the karma games like poker, the karma store was awesome. now karma is a closed system, they tried to tie it back to real world value, and it sucked the life right out of it.

What specifications? They will tell you everything at the store, for sure.

you dont need water changes every week. We did it once in few months. Once the water is set up right, thats it. Make sure the first fish are hardy ones like the damsels so they can create with the live rock all the bacteria needed before you put really expensive fish and have them die.

Yeah, it was one of those more expensive purpulish-black lights. Most likely flourescant.

Oh, if you mix corals and fish - the fish might eat them.

How big of a tank you gettin? What kind of fish? I like the lion fish and the leopard shark (too bad its illegal now_

Do you ever wonder if its just because when something is new you like and enjoy it, but then changes are made(most people hate change) you start to dislike it.
I think in another 2 years people are going to be like a couple of years ago this place was much better. The past is usually better in peoples minds. Just my theory.

I use to be on here(anabolic board more) many years ago when 2thick and E2 were around, those guys were smart bro's. When I came back on here I thought the samething Lestat is saying this board has changed, and not for the better

I found other places to spend time that I used to spend here.
Every day I see more and more people who were here on them too.
Hopefully, it worked out well for EF's bottom line.

Its going to be a reef tank, so just a couple of fish. A pair of clownfish, maybe a goby, definitely crabs, snails, a shrimp. Lots of corals, LPS, SPS, softies.

Tank will be small, 25g or less, its called a "nano reef" http://www.nano-reef.com/

Digger's not the problem. Customer Service is the problem. You create an atmosphere and then yank it away. Like being cawk-blocked after just paying for sex. What should be a done deal gets farked.

yeap, crabs are a must. Make sure you gonna have some shells. They grow and leave their old one searching for a new shell. Its fun to watch :) Good luck with the corals, bro, I know that is a lot of work. Thats why we never did it. I'm gonna want a picture after everything is inside. I bet its gonna be beautifull, especially if its gonne be a corner unit. Thats gonna be my husbands next project ;)
