What is your thought on the most anabolic exercise? I would have to say Deadlifts. I just started doing them and my back is gaining incredible size. My bench has also went up. Its like its even helping other bodyparts.

Squats and deadlifts hands down. I doubt anyone is going to answer incline press, unless they've been doing bodyweight-only squats, or deads with 2.5 lb. dumbbells!

Both squats and deadlift but if i had to chose between the two going by what i have read and heard id say SQUATS .......but for sure do them both ?

they BOTH should be incorporated, but if i HAD to choose, it would be squats, it puts so much stress on the nervous system, deadlifts come in VERY close.

deads are killer but what always does it for me isnt one your pole and that is clean & jerks. They flat tear me up. And are always good for a shock to the muscles.

i agree clean and jerk is insane! power cleans work well too as well as hang cleans, but i dont do anymore since retiring from fb

The high-rep squat and deadlifts are some of the most productive tools (with steroids and proper food intake being the others) at building muscle and general body strength. They should be the core exercises in the routines of anyone who's goal is to build muscle.

Clean and jerk and other olympic lifts are, in my opinion, excellent exercises as well but very few people know how to do them properly as very few trainers and coaches know how to teach them correctly.

I would have to say based on physical science that squats are, because a large quantity of hormones and blood cells are located in the thighs and during a balls out leg day all those good juices are circulated throughout your body in your blood raising levels of all this stuff. Deadlifts second because they are primarily a back exercise. Squats being primaily legs. Try this before workouts: even on a day besides legs warm up with either 2 sets high rep leg extension or a run on the treadmill at a high rate of speed for 2-5 min. I guarantee you will feel pumped as fuck and will have a great lift. Try this and get bak to me with the results.

I forgot about the cleand & jerk. Should be in the Incline spot. lol

I'm not sure what it's called, but the one where you have to lean forward to get to the bag of chips or the remote on the coffee table. Man those kick my ass. Twenty or thirty handfulls of butter popcorn leaves me winded for a week!

Squats, then deads, then bench press, then wide-grip pull-ups. You should be going heavy on all four.

they have been proven to shock muscles more than squats and deadlifts, although the only one i use is squats

For me, it comes down to which exercise enables me to lift the most weight. My squat is 375 lbs and my deadlift is 600 lbs. I think the more weight your moving the more anabolic the exercise.

I would go with ThumbPresses..... On a 3 cc 21 gauge loaded with 750 mg sust... into your delt or glute.

Have yet to find a better exercise.

deadlifts suck.........pulling all that weight in a slow motion doesnt appeal to my back with buldging disc.........my favs are olympic lifts and squats

I think Deads hit it harder then squats. They are not very popular though, everyone is afraid of screwing their back. The mere placement of the weight vs the placement of the weight on squats tells the whole story of which is more anabolic.

I'm going to be a dork (as I have been known to do) and split a hair (as I have also been known to do).

By definition, there is no "anabolic exercise." It would be more correct to label exercise as "catabolic." In terms of exercise then, it is the recovery which might be labeled "anabolic."

A more correct question would be "which exercise has the greatest capacity to foster physical adaptation?"

I try to only do that one once a month as it takes me a long time to recover.:D :D

I read an article where squats were proven to be the most anabolic exercise. Even without reading that, I would have to say squats

Ditto. Simply put anything that utilizes the most and largest muscles in the boidy will trigger the most systemic growth.

To be honest I really like Hack squats. I used to squat but you can't go all out like you can on a hack squat machine. Just my opinion but my legs are sore as hell today.

squats, when incorporating squats into a workout, they should always be the first. why, because the amount of growth hormone secreted is huge, this infact will make the rest of your workout more worthwhile.

what are you guys talking about????

studies have proven that the treadmill at 65% mhr is the most anabolic exercise!!

i'll post studies soon.

Bench and incline???? NEVER going to be more anabolic than legs, that is if you don't have any legs.
feel the burn baby
