I always remember freaking out whenever a tick got on or even near me.

Damn this thread makes you realize how much is out there and how much we have yet to learn about it all.

the scary part is you can also get it from other sources like mosquitos. fleas, black flies etc.

I started this thread b/c I wanted to show the importance of this illness and for people to really keep their eyes peeled.

well, no one can protect themselves. All you can do is try to watch out for unknown rashes or any flu like symtoms that don't go away.
Until this disease is recognized, there will be little funding for research and with research can come a vaccine.

Early treatment is key to killing the infection.
They know that lyme is also in the blood supply.

mercury vapors. The vapors are inhaled and/ or if a piece of the filling is swallowed

no, that's cool. Lyme sufferers or anyone with Chronic illness is encouraged to remove their fillings so it's on the topic.

Yes there is mercury in fillings. Every time you eat or drink something warm, mercury is released into the blood. But only in silver fillings, not ceramic

I think everybody should ask their GP if he/she thinks LD is "real" then they'll know for the future.

I'm gonna ask our pediatrician next time I see him too.
