Lets break an old myth

this is where dynamic stretching comes into play for me! I use dynamic stretches that further range of motion while pumping blood to the muscles to get me loose and warmed up before i start a workout. Static stretching before a workout can be negative in both strength gain and injury prevention because it actually cause the blood to flow out of the muscles while you stretch them putting you worse off than you were before. Dynamic stretching broadens range of motion while giving the muscles blood and raising your heart rate. I use dynamic stretching then i do an active warmup with a medicine ball then hit the weights. Not to mention a couple of warmup sets. By the time i start going heavy im more than ready! I follow workouts with static stretching. while still being bad at the beginning of a workout they are great at the end for loosening up and preventing soreness and adding athletic flexabilaty! It has its place.... just not before working out.
