Hello all,
I am 24 years old, been lifting for almost 7 years, 6'2", 210, and my left arm got tore up from doing behind the next over head press about 6 years ago when I first started lifting. It moves kind of differently than my right arm, and seems to pop in and out and in and out if I move it up or down. Last week I was making good progress on bench, and was able to do 200 for the first time in my life, but a couple of days later it feels messed up. I've had this problem once before like 2 years back. I think I just went without lifting for almost a year and it went away. I don't want to stop lifting now though.
I'm getting insurance real soon, so I should be able to get it looked at. First time I got it looked at, about 2 years ago, the doctor told me nothing was wrong, but now it hurts like hell on the joint whenever I bench, and whenever the arm is "down" at my side for more than a few seconds. I have to sleep with my arm "up" above my shoulders or else it'll hurt in my sleep. It hurts even while I'm typing this, since my arm is down.
Should I just change my 5x5 program to be only decline bench and incline bench in the mean time, which does not feel uncomfortable or painful at all? I've been making good gains on squats and deads, but benching is definately gone for now.
