because Ive been doing my own for years but the last two times Ive effed em up.
having them not even makes me insane

maybe theyre dropping cuz Im old

someone send me botox :(

I been plucking mine for the last while. I have waxed them in the past and screwed them up royal. I find if I stay on top of them plucking strays weekly then it never gets to out of control. I also have special scissors that I use to trim them as well.

I stopped getting them waxed as they were waxing them way to thin trying to get the shape identical. I got them thread a couple of times but that hurts so dam much I would rather pluck them myself. The more I do it the better I get at keeping them in shape.

The last time I payed to get them done I went to a Benefit brow bar they will give you tips on how to shape and grom them yourself. It was more pricey then the waxing and threading but she helped me get them in the shape I wanted them which is thicker more natural. I am not sure where your located but check and see if there is one close to you brow bars : about benefit : BenefitCosmetics

had em done a couple of times and it hurt both times. fuk that, no thanks.:( mostly, I like the natural sweep/arch of my eyebrows so i stopped bothering a while ago. I have eyebrow sharpers(with the little blade attached) that i use every once in a while. no plucking/waxing for me, that area is just too sensitive.

holy crap....thre was one of these places 5 minutes from my house...thanks! Im going to look into this next weekend.

done my own 80% of the time, had someone do them for about 4 years, im back on my own until I find a decent place, $10 in the Chinese girls nails & hair salon in walmart does not look decent :lmao:

I had mine waxed once by a friend in cosmetology school and she not only took off my hair but my skin too. Since this experience I have done the plucking myself!!

I did them again about 3 weeks ago when my husband got here....2 months worth of no plucking in about 5 minutes..... talk about ouch ;)

I just did mine this afternoon...they look pretty awesome if I do say so myself

I get them waxed about once every 6-8 weeks. I do a good job plucking and keeping pretty cleaned up in between sessions.

I cannot stand to have anyone else pluck my brow. Knowing exact when the little yank is gonna come makes all the difference in the world for me. I'm sort of a nervous wreck when someone else does it

I got in the habit of doing them myself, but they are a bit thin now due to my overplucking, I wish I had only got them done professionally, I had nicer fuller ones before.

I pay to get mine done, it's on the way home from work, she messages me to come in that evening and it's just easy!!!

I have tried a few times and I'm too gung-ho, a little bit more off this side, even it up on that side, ... I just don't know when to stop. It's best I leave it to the professionals.

I've heard years of waxing can cause the skin under the eyebrow to start to sag into the eye. Just a warning. I still have mine waxed, nothing a little filler cant fix...but still I think about it

I get mine done at my hair salon. This adorable little Italian lady does them for me, she's so funny. It doesn't cost too much either and I love how she shapes them, she's wonderful. I have OCD so I feel ya on the un-even thing.. UGH.

Been waxing my eyebrows for about 10 years now. I looked into getting laser hair removal on them but it doesnt work on blond hair. I kinda like the pain =X

It is better to consult a professional for eyebrows. The skin around eyebrows is very sensitive and there are chances we may mess up when we do by ourselves. I did it myself once and I looked like a robot with half of my eyebrows plucked. That was the worse experience I had and thought I’ll consult a professional for help. I bet they do a neat job and most of the time its painless when the hair is not so thick. Make it a practice to trim once in a month atleast.

That's wack, how do you shave them?
I'd be very afraid.

I knew a girl who had her eyebrows tatooed and would just shave hers aswell...

Admitedly, I didn't know till she told me, they actually looked natural!!

I wonder if that's what Joena means... please tell!!!

I just got my brows done they were out of dam control. When they get wild I wear mininal to no eye makeup it just loooks really bad brows fram the eyes. I'm so glad there clean again and not to thin the lady I go to now is awesome she doesn't over wax them I have gone to so many that way over wax them trying to get the brows to look exactly the same but it's not possible cause one brow arches more then the other. There is a saying I like brows are sisters not twins it rare that peoples face a perfectly cemtrical and my brows are so not.

My eyebrows have always been pretty immaculate. I pluck them myself (have never waxed) and I am kind of obsessive about it. I do it out in natural sunlight (usually in my car in the driveway or work parking lot). I keep tweezers with me everywhere I go.

So I am not the only person with tweesers in my car good to know. I try to maintain my as best I can but sometimes I slack and then they just go wild someone else has got to fix them cause I have over waxed them and that is a pain when you got to draw like half your eyebrow in.

I kept tweezers in my purse all the time, I lost them about a month or two ago.. my eyebrows do not approve.... oddly enough my husband doesnt notice, I have not fixed my brows for months and then get them done immaculately at the salon and I say "what do you notice" and he'll nervously ask: "did you cut your hair or new shirt?" ;)

LOL ! My husband does the same thing :)

I've always done mines myself, sometimes I'll get them done, but I don't really trust many with my eyebrows, I rather do them myself... mines are pretty much how I like them naturally, I just clean them up a little .

I have been doing my own eyebrows since I was 11. I went in to a salon to get them waxed once a few years ago and she said she really couldn't improve them. I took that as a complement and have never sought professional help again.

Don't be afraid to use small scissors to trim them in length, that can be a big help!

I recently had a talk with my 13 year old daughter, things worth spending your money on when money is tight. Eyebrow waxing made the list. What I told her:

Pay for the best eyebrow waxing you can afford. The difference between a cheapo wax at a nail place and a really good wax at a high end salon is less than $10. If you have your brows done every 8 weeks and it costs you $18 ($15 plus tip at a good place), that's just over 25 cents a day. Look at all the women walking around with funky eyebrows, and almost all are thinking they look good. Have someone do it right. Try different people, or ask someone whose eyebrows you really like. Bring a picture for them to go by. If you're really broke, just have them done a few times a year and clean them up yourself between times. When doing them yourself, when in doubt, underpluck so your stylist has something to work with.

(And by the way, no she doesn't get hers plucked. That talk was for future reference, when she's out on her own.)

I would never trust another person with my eyebrows!

I find the easiest way is to draw on the shape as you want to see it with a good eyebrow pencil, and then pluck around the shape you have created

Those indian "threaders" at the mall are interesting..

They hurt like all holy hell. LOL

I been trying to stay on top of plucking my eyebrows so I don't have to get them waxed. I like mine on the thicker more natural side and seems like they always make them thinner than I would like.

I always get them thinner and regardless of the salon they always leave me with an arched one and a semi arched kinda circular one, makes me so mad, they also shorten them which pisses me off..... but plucking hurts :worried:

Mom has that pretty bad, even has a big bald patch in her hair :(

Sent from my VM670 using EliteFitness

Does she? Does it make her self-conscious? How big is the bald spot? If its bad enough, she should try some meds they have for it. That's too bad, I can kinda relate but mine isn't so bad that it makes me self-conscious or anything. I don't pull at my scalp thank god, though I think I have enough hair that it would not matter. Lol. Its definitely one of my many "quirks". I just have one area, one eyebrow too lolololol :lmao: I can't have tweezers or any mirrors that magnify. In fact, last night I was digging through a junk drawer trying to find a tweezer like a fuggin junkie! hahahahaha. I threw them all away and gave away all my magnifying mirrors.

If I started pulling at my scalp I would start meds because its my last impulse I've not been able to get control over and I'd hate to start going down that path. Its weird, I go into a sort of trance.

Keeping them thin helps, I like the look too. So, it works. Lol.

oh yeah it's huge, she tries to cover it with an awful top ponytail, she knows it looks bad but she cant stop, she has been medicated but hates it because it floors her, completely numb/medicated, it has completely deteriorated her social skills.

I'm sorry to hear that. :(

I like it. lol. And its super fast and looks good. *shrug*

Hmmm, I must be the odd one out. I like mine thinner still. I have no choice. I have trichotillomania.

Cindy, some of the SSRIs have shown good efficacy for treating compulsions. I've seen Luvox probably work better than the others. From the old tris Anafranil is very good.

I did some hair plucking thing when I was like 8 and gave myself bald spots...same thing?

they put me on fricken valium..lol

THanks RW. Actually, I have a Luvox script already for OCD. I just don't take it because of side effects. My trich isn't bad enouch for me to take meds.

Thinner brows tend to age a person and fuller brows make you look younger. I have super dark hair right now but in general I would say blondes can get away with a bit thinner brow than brunettes.

very true. amazes me how many women fail to understand that.

Bugs me that the people we pay to do out brows don't encourage it they should know.

It took me a while to get it but I was lucky enough to have no issues growing my brows out some woman pluck them so much they don't grow back.

Also as you age they don't grow in as thick my mom shared that lovely little tid bit with me.

Yeah, I can get away with it. Most of my brows are naturally blonde anyway that I have to fill in and I have lots of hair that grows really fast, eyebrows included trich or no trich. Lol! Right now the only thing that ages me is my forehead. Lol.

Expression lines? I had them since I was pretty young early 20's just across my forehead. I hate it but not willing to start botox yet maybe late 30's or early 40's.

Im lookin to botox between the brows

i wish my eyebrows would thin out...even when my thyroid didnt function at all I still had caterpillar eyebrows

a shot for "the 11's" runs about $400 to $500. Steer clear of Dysport. Some docs are pushing that shit as a less expensive alternative b/c the manufacturer is marketing the motherfuck out of it to the docs. Lotta consumers reports of Dysport evidently being metabolized systemically and causing some significant issues. botox seems to really stay put.

good to know...I was considering it for a 35th b-day present

any idea how much fillers cost?

That may be RW, I have no idea. Plus, my sister told me that if you get Botox long enough it will stick longer...and its a good preventative I guess. She gets it done more than I do/did. I don't know. Every time I had it done the longest it would stick would be two months.

Shirl, where where you thinking of fillers? My sister has fillers in her cheeks and in her lips. Looks good. I've never done it, I doubt I will but it does look really good.

Cindy yeah some of it remains and you get a gradual build up and the therapeutic effect typically lasts progressively longer. Oh and you reminded me of one of the other major selling point of Dysport. Injections only every six months. When patients have reported side effects they generally are substantially more severe and longer lasting than with botox.

I was thinkin of along the jaw line more than anything...considering marionette lines but Im thinkin botox would nip that in the bud and kicking the e-cig habit

my lips are thinner than when I was young but lip plumper and lip liner still make a big diff there, so probably not

the 11's could stand to be filled but I would probably botox and reassess

basically my face is aging quick and the jawline bugs me the most

I usually use a razor when I'm on a budget. There are times when I go to the nail salon to get my eye brows, I feel like I'm treating myself when I go.. Lol

Damn it, I just over tweezed, under tweezed and mis-shaped my damn eyebrows
The blue shows completely different and awful starts on each one, the red is a damn chunk that I took off by mistake, the yellow is like an odd clump

What a mess :(

nan you have beautiful eyes! Just beautiful!!

You should see mine. I see my girl on monday. One is almost a half of an inch shorter than the other. I am just filling it in with powder till she can fix it.

Thank you so much Cindy :) and I'm not even wearing mascara :qt:

I actually cant wear mascara to work because my lashes go so high that they smash against my eyeglasses and I cant see, lol :nerd:

we have almost the same color eyes...stop touching them...fill in missing chunks with pencil

next time when youre doing final shaping pluck one or two hairs then step back and look

heh

I do it myself because I don't like the idea of paying someone to do it for me. I do plucking. Haven't tried threading though which I think is cool and less painful. But I don't know how to do it yet but I might ask a friend to do it for me and teach me how to do it. :)
