knee pain report after ATF squats

kiosk

New member
Well, before I took on everyone's recommnedation here to move from "squats to parallel" to ATF I was a little worried because I was having knee discomfort for a long time and had actually stopped squatting all together...
Well, guess what? a while after I started ATF squats (5x5) now my knee pain is completely gone!! even with my knees traveling beyond my toes below parallel I dont have any discomfort at all anymore

well thats the good part, the sucks part is that now my right ankle (outer) hurts....wtf??? is this some imbalance?

change your toe angle. Too much angle outwards can cause some of those symptoms for me anyway.

It's the stretch in your quads that you get from squatting ATF that has "healed" the knees. ALSO, sort you ankle by doing This:

Point and flex your toe about 100 times, and then draw 100 circles with you toe (reversing direction every 10 or so), making them as wide as possible. Takes about 5 mins each but often improves bloodfow and relieves tight muscles and tendons in the ankle.

I imagine that the stabilization that occurs as a result of the hamstrings pulling on the knees plays a large part as well.

i have had a little trouble with me knees, when i first started ATF squats it got worse at the start but after a little while it got better and now my knees feel great.
