Jay Cutler only takes in 170-220 grams of protein a day???!!!

Well I believe him. When off, I usually take 1g/lbs max. And it works for me. When on, I go for 1.5 g. Still working.

I can say with a good amount of certainty, that unlke FLEX, when MuscleMag does an interview with someone, it's a real interview. (I've done some myself) Whether or the guy being interviewed is being honest is a different story.

More than a gram per pound of protein is excessive. The problem is, if you need to eat 5000 calories a day and you only take in 200 grams of protein, that's a lot of fat and carbs. But some guys process it better than others.

He weighs 300 pounds, so he'd have to take in 300 grams of protein, not 170..
That interview is BS.

The one gram per pound is an approximation and not a bad one. The actual amount of protein needed build a days worth of muscle is only a few grams -- the key is having all the complete aminos available when anabolism takes place. Remember, guys in prison who lift hard will put on muscle and their daily protein intake is probably around 60-70 grams. (Meals are mostly cheap starches -- bread, potatoes, rice, corn, beans etc. Plus fatty "spam" like meat) That doesn't mean I recommend it (I'm a believer in emphasizing protein) but it goes to show that excessive protein intake doesn't necessarily mean more muscle and a little less protein doesn't nesessarily mean less muscle.

Personally, I think 50% protein 25% carbs and 25% fats would be perfect for most people on a daily (non competition diet) basis. But even that much protein is tough to get every day.

in case you guys care, buy his video, he explains his whole diet during the first 10 minutes of it, and he even goes to see chris aceto, who then describes his whole diet in full...

that muscletech ad is crap, as we all know, because that whole magazine is a ploy to sell products, if you believe that, why dont u believe every article that flex has ever published, if u pay attention carefully each successive flex magazine contradicts the previous ones, i remember reading ones that had a specific pros training schedule, and only a month later, in the next flex, he had a totally different approach to training.....in short, why believe the mags?

jay cutler does take in about 300 grams of protein.....off season that is........he takes in 600-1000 grams of carbs as well.....he DOES NOT eat pasta, he gets his carbs solely from yams as well as oatmeal........when he gets to dieting, he states that he diets for 14 weeks, and the last 5-6 weeks are very strict......when he diets he rotates from low carb, to medium carb, to high carb days, while adjusting his protein accordingly, i.e., low carb days(50 grams) hell take in 600 grams of protein, medium carb days(250 grams) hell take in 400 grams of protein, and high carb days he takes in 300 grams of protein.....i have met jay at more than 5 guest appearances, and each time he reassures me that when u are trying to build muscle(bulking), take in a ton of carbs and keep the protein moderate....i.e. 1 gram per lb, or a tad bit more to be safe....he also says to get most of ur protein from food and not shakes...that we knew already, or u should have.....he also likes steak...he feels it fills his muscles up the best...he is not a big fan of chicken, he prefers turkey and lean beef......

your welcome for clearing the air....... :)

Well if he does really only take in that much protien and still gets that large the only thing I can say is it must be nice to be a genetic freak. Shit I have to stuff my face constantly to hold 241lbs.

But still 170-220grams of protein isnt enough, there has to be something wrong ??? they have probably just made that up.

-MAX

Maybe thats per meal. Multiply that times 6-8 and it will all add out in the end.
