Someone took my credit card number last week, probably off of Paypal (last place I entered it), had the account canceled as per "fraudulent charges" and I found out a new card is being "sent". I tried logging into my account online to pay my bill and said it was unavailable and to contact customer service (this is Capital One btw). I call there and they say "I" authorized the sending of a new card because of "fraudulent charges" on the old one. My balance is still the same as it's been so nothing has yet been charged on it but now I'm trying to straighten this out with Capital One. Needless to say when I do I'm canceling my whole fucking account so I have nothing more to do with them.

had this happen over the weekend my card was frozen .. over seas charges for 3500 and 6000 grand on my card .. women told me on phone this has been happening alot

These guys are the real deal? I'll have to look into that, thanks for the link.

Kano that's terrible. Hopefully I can get this canceled all to hell.

I never understand how they could do that. Whenever I call the cc company, they ask me a hundred different questions to verify it's my account. I don't mind the questions, it's better security. But how the hell do other people get away with it?

I'm assuming they do it online and recover passwords somehow without speaking with anyone in particular?

They said "I" called in and canceled the card and had a new one issued. So apparently someone has enough info to do that. Someone who should be dead.

that sucks.

i thought i had my bank card and identity stolen once. my bank balance was zero and I had all these charges from another state. the bank told me a man went to his local branch and claimed he was me and produced a drivers license.

so everyone investigates and the detectives are called in... the bank figures out that the man never claimed he was me- he just went to his bank and said he lost his card. They entered the number, and mis typed it by one number... MINE. they asked for ID, checked that it was him, but NOT that it was the account they were giving him, and handed my card and balance over to him. He never knew.

love,
