is that for real? they claim that if your identity is stolen while you are with them they will battle out for you and spend up to one million dollars in order to straighten up your shit....

If that is true , $10 a month is a great investment for your peace of mind....

Did you sign up with those guys?

So I talked to the fraud department this morning because last night the lady I spoke to (foreign Asian with broken english) said she restricted the account and to call the number she gave me back tomorrow to speak with investigators. Well the guy I talked to this morning (another foreigner, this time Indian, with broken english) said there is nothing he can do now because the account is under investigation. He said they'd contact me but didn't know when. Does this make sense? It all seems pretty fishy like they're blowing me off thinking I'm the perpetrator or something. I got transfered at least 3 different times with each call, half the time without notice, after giving my "old" account number (which is the one the thief canceled).
I also placed a fraud alert with all my credit reporting agencies so at least I got to that first. This is ludicrous. How terrible is Capital One's security that they can allow someone to waltz in there with whatever you need to cancel the real identity and replace it with their bullshit? I didn't lose any money yet but who knows what the fuck's going on now.

the world is full of useless dicks who sit around and try to weasel their way thru life. funny thing is, is that if they aplied these skills to their everyday life, they'd prolly be beyond successful....

True. And without people wanting them to be missing fingers.

MM69, I answered some security questions that only I would know (too bad they didn't require this for the other dipshit) that's apparently only applicable to emergency situations......

And thanks.

Now that an investigation is started the three credit bureaus are required to freeze all access to your credit for free if you ask. Without a specific passcode, no one will be able to use your credit file on an application. I'd do that right away.

Someone took my credit card number last week, probably off of Paypal (last place I entered it), had the account canceled as per "fraudulent charges" and I found out a new card is being "sent". I tried logging into my account online to pay my bill and said it was unavailable and to contact customer service (this is Capital One btw). I call there and they say "I" authorized the sending of a new card because of "fraudulent charges" on the old one. My balance is still the same as it's been so nothing has yet been charged on it but now I'm trying to straighten this out with Capital One. Needless to say when I do I'm canceling my whole fucking account so I have nothing more to do with them.

WOW I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT
That sort of thing happens allot here in the UK it is not even funny
