Is marching to Baghdad the right thing to do???

no one will doubt the US army could defeat the Iraqis easily. The problem is CNN, FOX and the others. Every american soldier killed will be a show, a topic on Larry King.....

I'm not so sure of that. People/media seem to be more bloodthirsty than they were during the 'Nam era. Increasing militantcy is what I see.

Just like Somalia when women and children pick up arms they are no longer civilians but become Combatants therefore should be Free rein to put them down by any means neccessary

What the fuck is a civilian supposed to do. You attack a country and it's people for no good reason.........the average civilian thinks to himself 'why is he attacking me, what have i done wrong......i have to protect my wife and children'.

Someone who is being attacked doesn't sit there and think 'oh, that's ok, it's the United States attacking.......they observe the Geneva convention for conduct during war......they won't kill and rape innocent civilians'.

They are still civilians who are defending themselves from attack, NOT COMBATANTS. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE.

He has been brainwashed by the Army. What do you expect a sheep to say?

If this country got overrun by somebody, this civilian would be at least 10 head aches. I'd only shoot high ranking officers though, shooting soldiers makes no difference at all.

**edit**

You're not worth a response.

Think what you want. I hope you go fight and die for your country.

That's what I thought... You've spent NO time where I've been, so you dodge the question by telling me I'm not worth a response.... Typical... I love how whenever the conversation goes to an issue you clearly know NOTHING about, you revert to insults, and pretending to know what you're talking about. YOU HAVE NO CLUE!!!!!

I'm not in the military anymore, so I won't be going this time unfortunately, sorry to disappoint you.

Will this war stop terrorism or escalate it? What proof do we have that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction? I have not heard anything but speculation thus far. What is our objective? People are already dying there by the thousands because of sanctions and malnutrition. Will inflicting war on them make them like us better or will it piss off a whole generation of people not only in Iraq but other countries?? If we do manage to take out Saddam, who will be his successor and what makes us think he will be U.S. friendly? Are we prepared to set up camp there and fire on people every time there is an insurgence?

This is not only about terrorism... Actually, I don't believe it's even PRIMARILY about terrorism. This is more about finally letting Sadaam know that we're tired of him thumbing his nose at the rest of the world and not obeying the agreements HE made with the UN and rules imposed by the US at the close of desert storm. For more than 10 years, he's been shooting at our planes, and basically giving the world the finger. The people over in Iraq that are dying, are dying because Sadaam is letting them die, and blaming sanctions.... His people are starving, yet he somehow manages to eat...hmmmm Sounds very reminiscent of Mohammed Farrah Aidid's regime in Somalia, but on a larger scale. To answer your question about how will we know if his successor will be US friendly is easy... We will occupy Iraq, just as we do Afghanistan, untl the government is stable enough to run on its own.

except for the fact that they are not obeying the UN resolutions, that's all... What people are failing to remember here, is WE DO NOT HAVE TO PROVE THAT SADAAM HAS WMD'S IN HIS POSESSION!!!!! the burden of proof is on HIM to show what he HAD, how and when he got rid of it, and he is not doing that to the satisfaction of the UN inspectors thus far. Although we have no "smoking gun" as Mr. Blix calls it, he is still not being as forthcoming as he should be. Sure, it would make everyone a lot more comfortable if we had the smoking gun, but, Sadaam is already in breach by definition...

the average civilian thinks to himself 'why is he attacking me, what have i done wrong......i have to protect my wife and children'.

Just like in Somalia, the "average civilian" is brainwashed to believe that we are the bad guy, armed by the government, and told to attack us when they see us. At that point, they are no longer civilians, they are militia. By the way, they hand thier wives and children guns to fight against us too, so thier safety is not as important to the men as you think.

Someone who is being attacked doesn't sit there and think 'oh, that's ok, it's the United States attacking.......they observe the Geneva convention for conduct during war......they won't kill and rape innocent civilians'.

Trust me, they do not look at it that way. I feel bad for the average person in those countries sometimes. They only know what they are allowed to hear and see, and usually that's thier governments' rhetoric and anti-American propaganda. However, if a few of them have to die so the rest can be pulled from under Sadaam's thumb, so be it, it's worth it IMO...

They are still civilians who are defending themselves from attack, NOT COMBATANTS. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE.

See my previous comment... By definition, they are militia, not civilians. Therefore, they ARE combatants. It's just like if someone were to attack us, and we were armed by the government, but not enlisted in the regular army. We would be considered militia, not civilians, thus, by the rules of war, combatants...
