What the fuck is a civilian supposed to do. You attack a country and it's people for no good reason.........
except for the fact that they are not obeying the UN resolutions, that's all... What people are failing to remember here, is WE DO NOT HAVE TO PROVE THAT SADAAM HAS WMD'S IN HIS POSESSION!!!!! the burden of proof is on HIM to show what he HAD, how and when he got rid of it, and he is not doing that to the satisfaction of the UN inspectors thus far. Although we have no "smoking gun" as Mr. Blix calls it, he is still not being as forthcoming as he should be. Sure, it would make everyone a lot more comfortable if we had the smoking gun, but, Sadaam is already in breach by definition...
the average civilian thinks to himself 'why is he attacking me, what have i done wrong......i have to protect my wife and children'.
Just like in Somalia, the "average civilian" is brainwashed to believe that we are the bad guy, armed by the government, and told to attack us when they see us. At that point, they are no longer civilians, they are militia. By the way, they hand thier wives and children guns to fight against us too, so thier safety is not as important to the men as you think.
Someone who is being attacked doesn't sit there and think 'oh, that's ok, it's the United States attacking.......they observe the Geneva convention for conduct during war......they won't kill and rape innocent civilians'.
Trust me, they do not look at it that way. I feel bad for the average person in those countries sometimes. They only know what they are allowed to hear and see, and usually that's thier governments' rhetoric and anti-American propaganda. However, if a few of them have to die so the rest can be pulled from under Sadaam's thumb, so be it, it's worth it IMO...
They are still civilians who are defending themselves from attack, NOT COMBATANTS. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE.
See my previous comment... By definition, they are militia, not civilians. Therefore, they ARE combatants. It's just like if someone were to attack us, and we were armed by the government, but not enlisted in the regular army. We would be considered militia, not civilians, thus, by the rules of war, combatants...
