Is marching to Baghdad the right thing to do???

In spite of no evidence from the UN inspections, we are going in. I feel like we painted ourselves into a corner here.

I have gone back and forth a dozen times on whether or not this is right. I am concerned that the administration has not painted a clear picture of why this is just and more concerned that the media and the public are so blase about it.

I almost volunteered for Desert Storm, even called a recruiter. That was a clear cut justified war in my opinion. This one is different. I doubt the troops will be so fired up this time.

People seem to ignore the fact that we will probably lose a bunch of soldiers and international judgements could be harsh if we encounter no weapons of mass destruction. A lot of Iraqis will die and I don't like that this time around.

We will have the answer in the future though. It all depends on the final outcome.

This fight will be fought mostly with Special Operation soilders, airmen, sailors, and marines

Dont count on Joe Smoe the National Guardsman down the road getting into to much action, cause I doubt it will take very long

Honestly if something major happens involving a large scale force look for the 82nd airborne to send about 25%-30% of the division, about 50% of the 101st, and maybe another 25% out of 10th moutain though they might pick up some slack again in Afghanistan since the 82nd has a considerable amount there right now.

A few units out of Germany could get called up as Support as well as Viciniza Italy for more Airborne Support

All and all I'd say about 60miles outside Baghdad the tankers will be there to Rush in once a considerable piece of the city is under Allied Control

and ground pounders will probably clean up whats left over of the resistance with some SF help after Baghdad Falls

the 3rd and 4th id will be pulling in a longterm guard duty of the country since once that fight is done Korea might have some more balls since China will probably Tempt Fate with Tawaiin if they think we will be too busy


Overall I'd say this Paratrooper is motivated...As well as the rest of my battalion. I know plenty of Guys within the 75th Ranger Rgt that have been Motivated for almost a year at the prospect of going to Iraq

IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT SADAM HAS ABOUT 400,000 BARRELS OF SOME TYPE OF CHEMICAL AGENT (THAT ONLY TAKES A FEW DRIPS TO KILL EVERYONE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA) READY TO GO. HE WILL KILL HIS OWN PEOPLE AS WELL AS WHOMEVER IS ADVANCING ON BAGHDAD WITH THAT SHIT.

seems to me like the decision has already been made. you don't keep moving tropps into an area and pull them out without firing a shot.

The operation consisted mainly in forcing the Iraqis to retreat from Kuwait. U.S. Troops did enter Iraq but did not take over the city. The bombs from the air strike did make it in though.

there were plenty of American Forces in Baghdad, perhaps a few people here were there..I would venture to bet at least 1

we had conventional troops right on the outskirts...there was a Fwd Deployed Signal Battalion about 10miles outside the city basically boosting the Commo Capabilities of those that could have been in the city and support Elements outside the city

Someone close to me was in there during the war though I wont disscuss anything other then that
