LOL I had an interesting discussion about this question with my best friend's girlfriend last night..she went totally off on me (while we were all trashed of course) about how flirting is NOT cheating..but in my opinion it is...

In my opinion, anything you would NOT do in front of your mate is cheating...that was my argument..(and no assholes, I'm not talkin about farting or picking your nose or shitting in front of them--I know you smart asses too well )

if i dont fart in front of them, i feel i am cheating them. i have some quality emissions and for her to love me, i dont like to hold back my impulses.

Kissing is definitely. No doubt. Flirting is close and i wouldnt say its cheating but its still pretty shallow and not cool.

Webster's defines flirting as "showing amourous interest without any depth of feeling". By that definition I would consider it cheating.

I tend to disagree. I think it is too bad, but flirting is a dying art form. There is NOTHING wrong with a little laughing and smiling and harmless, friendly discourse...as long as BOTH parties involved KNOW that it is NOTHING MORE. I flirt equally with children, females and males. Of course, the situation must be appropriate ie job interview = INNAPPROPRAITE.

My third daughter is also a shameless flirt - it is her nature as it is mine. For goodness sake, the poor little old blue-haired ladies can not get out the door at the salon when I bring her with me because she there is my Monika batting her eyelashes and chit-chatting away, "Gee your hair is pretty lady. My name is Monika and my mommmy is getting her hair cut....etc, etc, etc"

Now physical contact such as kissing is definitely a NO-NO and if there is ANY DECEPTION or MISREPRESENTATION then the flirting has gone too far.

I'm not nightfly...but may I say that yes, I have on occasion dated someone I was not "emotionally interested" in. Isn't that the purpose of dating?...getting to know someone? Maybe I have just been out of the loop for far too long, but tell me that is not a single board member here that has not gone out on a date that they were not REALLY interested in, but thought they were nice or funny or were just REAL bored on any given night of the week?!

Flirting can be a cultural thing ....

I've lived in Scandinavia where women flirt more than here ... in summer, the part are full of almost naked people ... u can look and flirt ... it's even normal to swap partners ... so CULTURE is a big factor ...

In the Middle East, women are not even allowed to LOOK .... so they wear a veil on their face and are cloth from head to toe ... husbands don't even know how their wives look until they get married ..

The rest are in-between these two extremes ...
