Your ISP knows the exact IP address that is assigned to you, when you log on, whether dynamic or static. The only way to stay anonymous is to use a proxy server, but be prepared to slow things way down.
No shit....I was just commenting on the bro who said to change you IP you need to change computer! I did NOT say anything about remainiing anonymous, nor did I say that the server does not know your IP every single time it is changed...I simple stated the fact that the IP gets changed every time I use my old slow yet reliable dial up.

You are wrong. Changing an IP address doesnt protect you from being traced by those that have the resources to do so. Your network card has a unique id(Mac Address) that your ISP has tied to each ip address with their service. You need different service, new card, or new computer.
You need to re-read my post...I never said anything about being protected or traced...I only said that the IP can be changed by logging off and then back on! DAMN, WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE JUST READ BEFORE ACTING!

Still can not see why he has been bombed

Am i missing something as teh bombing just adds to the drama that is not there?

Wrongun!

WOW! A couple of people on here really don’t want us to discuss issues about our privacy...I don’t see what the problem with a little discussion about privacy on EF can hurt. Some people are really fuckin' upset about this lol.

Makes ya wonder...

Bro, this is not realistic. For Feds to sniff anything they still need a warrant. You can't just start up a sniffer and read someone's email. The feds would have to have the cooperation (read: warrant) of the network housing the servers, access to the switch the server was plugged into, or the server itself. Then they've got to worry about the encryption.

None of that is a simple (or inexpensive) process. I agree that privacy is important, but so is being realistic.

Well, I found something you might find interesting regarding warrants. Below is some info. I found on 'Patriot Act & Carnivore' (the govts. industrial strength packet sniffer).

U.S. Patriot Act & Carnivore

In many ways, USA PATRIOT just updates certain forms of electronic surveillance for the internet. Instead of wiretaps on a phone, the government can intercept emails. However, only the subject headers and addresses can be read without a warrant. Instead of bugging an office, the government can now look at the websites a certain computer has been visiting. If a person's computer has suspicious emails and has been visiting suspected terrorist websites, the government can obtain a search warrant and seize all information on the computer and online. The act also allows seizure of voice mail messages with a warrant.

Carnivore
Exactly how does the government go about looking at our records? A type of program called a packet sniffer "watches" packets of information as they go by on the world wide web. When a packet contains data that the packet sniffer is looking for, the program saves the packet's information. These saved packets are poured through by other computers, and if it is suspicious enough--by humans. So only the most suspicious computer actions will ever be observed by humans.

Under the new U.S. Patriot Act, packet sniffers will sift through information coming into the database. If something suspicious is noticed, then packet sniffers will begin searching through other information from that user. Then trends will be noted and a human will be alerted.

It looks like they can read email addresses without a warrant to me, as well as read the subjects of the emails. This will make you think about a better 'subject' to that email, huh?

Now, I would also bet that the govt. takes advantage of their packet sniffers. I would bet they use the data for much more than combating terrorism. Even if they can't include their findings in an investigation, having a lead is better than not having one.

I do agree that anonymous proxy servers do have a limit as to how anonymous they are. This is why I usually pick a proxy server in Australia or in a country where U.S. Subpoenas would have no effect.

I also believe that wireless hacking is the way to go if you want to remain totally anonymous.

Well, with this post only being 2 days old and already having 700 views and over 50 posts, I think that people are more than interested in staying out of the governments radar, wouldn't you think? It is time to sticky this!

Yo DBBT you're just making yourself look stupid as hell. Everyone has given legitimate reasons why this is a good thread. You just try to talk tough on the thread. Why did you bomb him, or am I just being a bitch; seriously the other kids will still think you're cool. Save the tough talk for elsewhere this forum is for intellegable discussion over issues surounding AAS. And security is one of them.

Yup, you're absolutely right, but you might as well be talking to a rock.
