In case anyone missed it b4, how many of you believe upper pec work is very important

My chest workouts center around Incline Press @ a 25 degree angle. I don't even bother with flat press anymore, but will hit decline towards the end of the workout

You know...my inclines are at a pretty low angle too..35 degrees or less maybe. I do them weekly. I think that the low incline is better for chest development than the high incline...

yea, its funny the carry over from push presses to incline presses...whenever I make gains in my push press I make good gains in my incline press...

I have a hard time growing my chest but since I have been prioritizing my upper chest with BB presses FIRST my chest is finally startin to grow.

Also, although I believe weight is important I think form is the key. You have to really work the muscle and concentrate on using all of your chest and not using "assisting" muscles to help perform the lift.

Thats why I do all Flyes and Crossovers for my chest. Theres virtually no "assisting" if you do them perfect form. Work the muscles Really good. My chest has just exploded now that i don't do presses anymore!

Pec Dec, Crossovers, Incline Flyes, and dips. :)

You kidding me? Your saying you have completely taken out presses all together?? Those should be the staple in your chest routine. I don't see aproblem incorporating your pec dec, croossover, flys, etc..., but you should still have some time of press in there. Just because you can go heavieer with pressses then flys, doesn't mean you have to go as heavy as you can and sacrifice your form.

I don't do flat presses any more. They are tough on the rotator, and I never saw much progress in chest size and shape while using them. I stick mostly to incline BB, low-incline DB, and dips (weighted of course) these days.

my current chest workout includes flat, 5sets of 5 incline 3 sets of 8 incline dumbell flys 3 sets of 8 decline dumbells 3 sets of 8, cable flys from the knees and pec dec and every now and then i add flat flys btw 5'10 180 lb bench 390+

I agree, they should be the focal point of your chest routine.

I don't want to offend you by this, but you say you're natural at 5ft10 180lbs benching 390lbs?

Surely you must be joking.

Either you're on steroids or much heavier than you say you are.

The only ppl at my gym who do close to that weight or over 400lbs are on steroids, & they weigh minimum 230lbs at around 5ft10.

The heavies guy is a nationally ranked power lifter & he's 6ft4 290lbs who is on anabolics & maybe GH & he benches well over 400lbs for reps & squats about 815lbs & the other guy is about 5ft11 240lbs with about %12BF & has been on steroids for a long time.

No offense for real nor am I trying to cause trouble, but I just find this hard to believe.

i originally stopped doing presses due to a rotator cuff injury, which i am still rehabbing. now i don't see a reason to do presses anymore as my chest has exploded from the flyes and crossovers. i doubt i'll ever be able to do presses again like i would want too. I can't do more than 120# or my rotator cuff will feel like its gonna split. either way, i'm getting what i want.. a bigger chest :)
