I knew (very, very well) someone who was married to TWO "mail order" Latin women (long story). The first one came from Mexico, the second from Peru. The first woman literally was sick every day of her life over the fact that her husband had divorced her (know why? Because she had a couple of kids and when she hit 40 she thickened up, not fat, just lost her waist). This poor woman truly believed that she was going to go to hell. The second one was more than 40 years younger than her husband, and almost half the age of the first wife. Anyway, the "new one," despite being in this country on his ticket, wouldn't marry him until he got the divorce turned into a proper church annulment (I shit you not).
While yes family is very important to them...they are not demanding or outrageous about flying them to see them or anything.
My Fiance is Catholic and while yes an old school(I mean OLD SCHOOL) Catholic wedding is what she wants she has NEVER tried to force her Religion on me and has stated many times that she doesnt care what other people believe in.
And they believe extremely highly in taking care of their man and their family and leave out 99% of the drama that theses American wanna be princesses bring to a marriage.
