If i can't do cardio in the morning...

I recommend a shake, because the amount of the available amino's is higher. Maybe take some additional arginine and alanine with it.
 
I agree whole heartedly with Cack to an extent. However, I have found this to be true when following a low carb diet. Specifically, I tended to burn up a lot more muscle. When following a higher carb diet I found that I was less likely to burn off the muscle. Granted, I am sure there was still muscle loss, but the not to the extent while low carbing.
 
Sorry guys, I guess I should have posted more of that thread. In the thread, the person told him to have like a 20-25g protein shake mixed in water shortly before going running. To me, that is an empty stomach. Kidman still said doing this will make him fat.
