Man they gotta be dead! I haven't been able to work em out hard in a long ass time?? Too painful most of the time.. I can't remember when the last time they didn't hurt or feel sore at all?? I'm wondering if they will suffer and fall behind since I can't work em like I do all other body parts.. I've just been taking it easy on em for months now, just low weights high reps plenty of rest in btwn.. Not pushing em like I do te rest of the body?? Wtf?? Any advice or thoughts?

I have the same issue. Going to start physical therapy next week. Streching helps. There are some good resources on how to strech and warm up your shoulders on the web. The one that works well for me is a posterior shoulder stretch. I hope my physical therapist fixes me up and teaches me more that I can add to my routine to I can keep my shoulders healthy.

Do you work on a computer for long periods of time? I ask because that is a major cause of my pain. It is called mouse shoulder. The pain gets so bad that I have trouble sleeping.

Have shoulder surgery twice on each shoulder, had bone spurs from lifting. They also tightened one of the ligaments. Might wantto see a sorthopedic sports surgeon. Better safe than sorry.

what is wrong w/ them? what bothers them? Ive had surgery on one shoulder, messed up both my rotator cuff on both sides, separated both my shoulders... and they are fine NOW.. it took a while at times.. but i had to learn how to rehab and pre hab my shoulder

i hope this link is ok.. but mobilitywod.com has a ton of great exercises for prehab purposes.. check it out

also you might need to FULLY rest it for a while.. not going light.. i mean fully rest it.. so no pressing/pushing exercises at all...
if you have an inflammation issue then diet can help it greatly.. cut out all sugar, then gluten, then grains and let your body heal...

i've gotten so many opinions from different doctors on sports injuries that its almost pointless to even go to them. when i had my leg problems from running so much, i had 1 doctor said to lay off for a month, and i had another say lay off for 6 months. its like throwing at a dart board.

injuries suck, but unfortunately we aren't robots made of steel. so take care of yourself.
if it hurts don't keep pounding away. listen to your body. you start messing with anti-inflammatories and you will cause long term damage...

My best guess would be tendon or ligament damage of some sorts.. Maybe from years of gear? They just always feel sore and I can never push them as hard as I can any other body part. I thought I did see a certain thread that had some of u guys explaining that u didn't even work out ur shoulders on an isolated day an thought they got enough work thru out ur other days?

I only do military press for shoulders.. i also do flat bench, dips and push ups..ok sometimes i do push press and jerks

the point is you want to rehab until you can do everything/anything..

i would really stress trying a really good diet like i mentioned above, heat therapy, and good massages.

after that there are chems that can help as well.. eq at a LOW dose is great for collagen synthesis etc etc

but nothing will help much if you dont rest it and let it heal.. and again rest might be doing only legs/abs for 2 months..

You're exactly right!! And if I wasn't a complete retard I'd listen and follow your advice!! I will honestly try a few rehab options once this cycle is complete...until then I'm just gonna take it easy on em and continue my plan just at a manageable rate... Thx bro!

I hurt mine about a year ago and I now only do military presses and dumbell presses only. I have seen over the years on EF that shoulder injuries are number one among members here. Go light for now and best of luck to you..

for now id go light.. focus on slow negatives, time under tension and lil tricks like that to get gains without hurting yourself more.

Exactly what I had in mind!!! Oh BTW, do not leave ur protein bars out of the fridge at all!! I did for a few hrs and it turned into pudding... A very healthy sludgy tasty pudding that I still ate...

You cant neglect the rotator cuff muscles. They are small and stabalize the joint. They dont often get worked sufficiently during normal strength movements so invariably over time lag behind and then the larger muscles of the shoulder allow you to move weights the smaller rotator cuff muscles cant handle so all the stress of the strength work gets transferred to the joint causing damage over time.

Whether your having shoulder problems or not do a google search for rotator cuff exercises and do them religiously. Vary the tempo and rep count and work them, your shoulders will than you for it.

lol.. i still have just been keeping them in my cooler.. i never go anywhere w/ my cooler so they are always in there...

back on topic..

one good thing about the shoulder is that you can get a lot of blood in there to help the healing process... removing inflammation naturally will help big time.. then massaging and heating will speed it up big time..

this is a very common thing for wrestlers, judokas, bjj'ers, and weightlifters .. and ive helped a bunch with shoulder injuries..

what sucks is if you fail to take care of it eventually it will 'blow out' and we will have matching scars.. you dont need that.. because then you will be out for a much longer time and it will hurt big time..

I hurt my elbow while lifting a while ago. I kept working it and the pain eventually got so bad that I toasted out for 3 months. Sucked balls. Everything's better now but laying off is definitely worth it when your body warns you.
